I wanted her shoes. Yes, I had seen it peeking out from the hem of her dress. I knew the shoes. They were the custom red soles of the Louboutin. I knew those shoes anywhere. I nearly fought the urge to wash my face clean of the envy, but if not for the makeup on my face, I would have. If not for the smiles I was supposed to smile, the small conversation I would have had with Halle , I would have done so.
