To prevent her from ruining my plan, I immediately turned off my phone and urged the driver to speed up.
During the ride, the effects of the anesthetic seemed to have worn off slightly. Christopher, who had been lying still this entire time, suddenly moved his hand.
He was probably conscious, but couldn't move.
Realizing this, I leaned closer to him and grabbed his hand.
"Don’t be afraid, Christopher. We’re almost at the crematorium. I promise to light candles and visit your grave every year to honor your memory and keep you in my prayers," I said, so softly as though I were murmuring to myself.
