I felt so flushed and embarrassed I lost my appetite immediately. “Thanks for the meal. I’ll do the dishes later.” I said as I hurriedly cleared my plate and dashed upstairs. I could feel him watch my every move and it made me so nervous, I almost ran. I got to my room and decided to quickly wash off my face first, like washing my face would mean washing off the embarrassment. I got to the bathroom and tried to turn on the tap but the part went off completely and the water poured out uncontrollably. Shit I had forgotten Anna had told me it was faulty.

I picked each of them up and turned them in my hand. All of them. Same hole. Same place. “No. No, no, no. This isn’t right.” I moved to the nightstand, grabbed the box, and upended it onto the bed. Empty wrappers spilled out, a few unopened ones still in the corner. I tore one free and held it to the light. Another hole. Every single condom we’d used had a hole punched clean through the foil. Wesley’s voice broke through, unsteady now. “Grace. What?”

Spent on the closet floor. The trip ended. But the watching continued at home. Closet in bedroom. Strangers or friends. Always me watching.
