The green numbers on the dashboard clock flashed one last time before rolling over: 11:59 PM. There were only a few passersby, as it was already past midnight. Suddenly, a screeching noise of a car was heard, disturbing the peaceful atmosphere of the night. Taking Midnight down would be near impossible because of its allegiance with Warhammer. Matt’s lips twitched, “You two look like you might faint.” “That’s… a very large undertaking,” Grace said. “Why?” He glanced at me then down to my arm before his gaze turned hard, “Let’s just say Mordecai pissed me off enough and his relationship with Ben only pisses me off more.”

Only she and Red knew the extent of Jane's problems, both deciding that Jane would tell the others when she was ready. They squeezed through a crack in the wall and found themselves in a service tunnel. Up ahead, Jane saw a bluish-white light coming from around the bend. "Is that it?" she asked. "That's it," Red replied. "Actually, it's going to be kind of anti-climactic." They rounded the bend and saw a sphere of light wedged into a crack in the wall. "That's the Node. This was our third life, for sure.” Kendric looks over at me with a confused expression. “Are you seeing this too?” A ticking clock sounds from somewhere nearby and I look around to see where it’s coming from. “Do you hear that?” A voice comes out of nowhere from somewhere above us. “Midnight is coming. Run while you can.”
