Emotion, not instinct. Midnight moved with frightening clarity, each attack measured, bones meeting bones, power meeting weakness. Echo raked his claws across Midnight’s shoulder, blood spattered. Midnight staggered. Michelle gasped, barely audible. Echo lunged again, teeth snapping at Midnight’s neck , Midnight didn’t dodge this time. "I was afraid too. But we're here now. We're together. And nothing is going to tear us apart." He kissed me then—hard and desperate and full of everything we'd been through. I kissed him back, holding onto him like he might disappear, like the darkness might reach in and take him away. But the darkness didn't come. And when we broke apart, we were both breathing hard, our faces wet with tears we hadn't known we were crying. "Midnight," he said. "We move at midnight." I nodded. Alfred said, motioning to him to start the conversation. “Jace and I went out on a midnight drive one day during my vacation, Jace mistook a girl as a stalker and got her hurt.......” Kayden said slowly. “WHAT!” Alfred screamed. “Don't yell at me. It was not my intention.” Kayden sad defensively. “Is she black mailing you?” Alfred asked worriedly, already thinking of ways to eliminate the threat. “Quite the opposite, actually, I asked her to dm me privately, and she did not.” Kayden said, sitting up, staring at Alfred.
