"So how was the rest of your night, after we left you guys?" Poppy asks me with a mischievous grin as she takes off her Danteet. I invited her over to my apartment under the guise of helping me declutter my closet. I wanted to see the look on her face when I tell her that I've agreed to move in with Rhodes. Knowing she's a massive fan of ours, I wanted to give her the magical gift of being the first to know.

If this was reality… well that would be tomorrow Poppy’s problem. She trotted over to the air mattress that served as her bed. It was neatly made, just as she always did when she left for the day. For a moment, Poppy observed the reminder of what it had been like when things were normal. Feeling a deep sense of exhaustion and resignation, she climbed into the middle, and used her teeth to make her blankets into a kind of nest. Poppy turned around a few times to trample the middle into a comfortable hole and then laid down in the center of it. With a sigh, Poppy closed her eyes and hoped beyond any hope that when she woke up and this would all be a bad dream, and she’d be a human again.

He whispered and I smirked. Then I whispered. "I know I’m asking you to spend the night with me." He leaned down and his mouth found the curve where my neck met my shoulder. I closed my eyes, sighing in bliss as his mouth moved lower. “This is a terrible idea, sweet Poppy.” His hand slid up my side, his rough palm cupping my breast through my robe. “You’re not ready for me yet.” His thumb circled my stiff nipple and I arched into him, a soft whimper escaping despite myself.

But every light inside dimmed sharply for a split second before returning to normal. Several guests glanced upward uneasily. Then the elevator stopped moving. The gaming streamer frowned. “Uh… are we stuck?” Before anyone could answer, the overhead speaker crackled softly. [Midnight check-in begins in ten minutes.] The voice sounded distorted, wrong somehow. A second later, every phone inside the elevator buzzed simultaneously. Winona pulled hers out slowly. A new notification covered the screen. WELCOME TO MIDNIGHT HOTEL. FIRST RULE: DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR AFTER 12 A.M. NO MATTER WHO IS KNOCKING. Below the message was one final line. SURVIVE UNTIL MORNING.

I whispered. We stopped at a red light. My gaze caught on a billboard the size of a building. It shimmered, transitioned—and suddenly, the word blazed across the screen in white fire: LUNARIS. A high-end nightclub. The most elite. The kind only the rich, powerful, and probably criminal could enter. Even back downtown, Lunaris was a fantasy, the kind of place people dreamed of making enough money just to glimpse. The ad shifted. And then his face appeared.

The sound coming from a horror film behind me battered when the thunder strike with the high volume that even the next building can be disturb. "Go to bed now," I commanded and closed the Tv. "Party pooper, the best scene was yet to come!" "I'm not sleepy!" And they started complaints, but in the end, they still follow me and eventually go to their room. I left a note besides Nate to take care of everything while I'm at work. I choosed to walked instead to use my scooter this time, the nighttime in the city is beautiful opposite from the morning, morning is a curse. I hid my hand inside the pocket of my hoodie and starts distracting myself.

She has read that book too? Midnight was a character from one of his first books. The book was about a young man, who because of being possessed by demons, would go on a killing spree every midnight, the sight and scent of the blood being the only salvation from the mental and physical pain these demons brought him. That fucker was a total psycho. Jake felt wronged. Why should she call him that? Does Ryder think of him as a psycho? Yet, upon noticing Ryder beaming proudly like a little child, he didn't have the heart to refuse. "Why not."

’ Poppy's expectations are growing, as if they have become a reality. BLAM!! When Poppy heard the door open loudly and strike the table next to it, her eyelids opened wide. She immediately woke up and sat down, looking in the direction of the sound. The room lights have been switched off. Only the moonlight shone through the thin, fluttering curtains. However, Poppy could still see Robin's silhouette approaching. Poppy's longing for peace is only temporary. Robin apparently still stopped by her room despite the fact that it was late.

Her breath caught as she was bathed in the light of the full moon and shimmering stars. “Felt like you needed this,” Poppy whispered to her. “After all that.” Raina’s eyes drifted around this enchanting place. “Where did you find this place?” “Oh, I knew about it even before we got here,” Poppy chuckled. “It’s my job to learn the layout and check for any signs of weakness. It also works for finding those hidden gems.”

Rows of old hospital beds stretched endlessly into darkness. Hundreds of them. Most empty. Some occupied. Ava’s breath caught painfully. People stared back at them from the shadows. Thin figures wrapped in old hospital blankets. Scarred faces. Hollow eyes. Children who had grown old underground. Forgotten. Abandoned. Still alive. One small figure slowly stepped forward from the darkness. A woman now. But Ava recognized her instantly. The moon bracelet still hung from her wrist. Mila. Older. Broken. But alive. Tears filled Mila’s eyes as she stared at Ava.
