Jake said, cupping his hands over his groin. “Come on, little birdie, you can pretend to pick up the soap.” Little Mike laughed, and advanced toward Jake. Jake swung his fist and Little Mike’s head snapped to the side. He spat blood from his mouth, and his eyes darkened with rage. He had both hands around Jake’s throat and he was slamming his back against the shower wall. “You’re just a fucking punk!” Little Mike yelled.

Just when they thought they had left the dangers of the past behind them, Mike's wail filled their hearings. Mike hadn't noticed that when his boyfriend's limp body had fallen behind that he had to grab tightly for him that a shot had run into the boy's back, breaking his spinal bones and knocking him out flat. None of them noticed the blood dripping down his body but Sage who hadn't mentioned it until he had just put him down to get looked out by the kind neighborhood people and just then had seen it. Fear tore through his heart, as pain filled his body, he cried bitterly, gripping onto the boy without letting go even when he was asked to.

Back in the house, Mike hasn’t stopped his CPR. “Come on, Jess. Come on” he mumbled through his gritted teeth. A few more presses and Jessica’s eyes snapped open with a sharp inhale. But the next second, not knowing where she got the strength, she screamed to the top of her note, screeching the whole house. Her knee pulled up to her body as she writhed on the slippery floor. That’s when Mike noticed the blood oozing out and the broken piece of glass. He flinched back, hissing and snapping shut his eyes. Robert who had just noticed the blood from Sarah’s back was taken back by the scream and ran into the house, kneeling back next to Jessica.
