My hands turn to fists as I'm backed against the wall. River links me. "Keep it together, Mike." "No. I'm not backing out." I give him a little shove back. He backs up more, smiling. "Ok...Then why am I here, Mikey?" "I wanna know what the plan is?" I stare him down. He chuckles. "Why, Mikey? The only thing you need to know is to take your girl and run when we tell you." I shake my head. "No. I need to know what you guys are doing?"

“I do. Why? Did he take the cooks with him too?” Mikey snickered and stepped into the room. He was young, that was clear, but he was also really shy compared to the other guys I’d met in Killian’s crew so far. His cheeks reddened as he said, “Look, I have time to kill tonight before they get back, and I want to do something nice for my wife since I’m out late. I wanted to cook her something, maybe. She’s pregnant, so she gets hungry all the time.” I smiled. “And you want my help?”

Mike playfully gave Justin a puppy-eyed look before he burst into guffaws and almost split his guts in a peal of boisterous laughter. “Get the fuck out of here! Dumb-ass!” Justin roared back. He was beyond flabbergasted that Mike was acting so silly and something he had never seen in his friend before. Justin left home before he finished junior high, he was not sure if something had happened to Mike within the years they had not seen each other and his friend might have turned into a closet queen or something despite his masculine physique!

“Okee dokee. Off we go, then.” As Mick leaves the parking lot, I pull out a Slim Jim and dangle it in front of his face. It stays stiffly out in front of his nose for a few seconds but then starts to bow down, going limp in my hand. I bounce it a few times for effect and it taps his nose. “Want one?” He takes it from me, smiling just before he rips off a big chunk with his teeth. “Don’t mind if I do.”
