It sustained a light scratch at the far left corner. I stumbled into Malcom’s social media page. There wasn't any recent post. I refreshed the page a couple of times like it could reveal the truth I was seeking. My focus was glued to my phone that I didn't notice when someone sat opposite me. “Hi,” a feminine voice greeted, and I lifted my head to look at her. “Hi.” “I'm Millicent. You just happened to look familiar.” “Oh,” She continued. “Is there any chance you grew up in moon walkers camp?”

Ora shouts through her cries. “Quiet you.” Millicent snaps at Ora as she tugs her hair. Millicent taps the knife on her chin while she considers my offer. “You are right. You are the reason I was driven out of my home. I would enjoy playing with you and making you truly suffer.” She fake yawned, then gave me an evil grin. “But sadly, you have nothing to offer me. The little princess here, though. She does.” She smiles as she raises the knife, ready to kill my child.

She’s here as a woman who is discontent bwith her man, only yhe man she has come to meet is not actually her man, not anymore. She strides confidently to the reception desk, her sunglasses perched on her nose. The young woman behind the desk blinks up at her, momentarily starstruck. “Good afternoon, ma’am. How can I help you?” “I’m here to see Arthur Worth.” Millicent says, her tone cool, completely masking how she really feels walking in there, knowing that she is risking a scandal, even worse now that he is married. The receptionist hesitates, glancing at her computer. “Do you have an appointment, ma’am?”

Shem said with a snort. “Mufasa and Ami are working on it. It won't be easy but there will be a solution,” Wayne stated and began to close the books. “Find Milicent,” Dr. Lance spoke. Wayne raised a brow at him. “That's the greatest help I can render personally. Find Milicent and tell her who you are. I often overhead your mother speak to herself about a certain Milicent who's the one helping her with info. My guess is she's responsible for the books Melissa had access to. Hopefully, she still works at the library.”

Ash's POV "How would you like to have company?" Millicent asks casually while giving me that morning's check-up. "Huh?... You want me to have company!?" I ask with surprise. She keeps writing in the file she has in her hands not answering me immediately. I'm surprised she asked if I want company when she knows what Eric says about me meeting with other people in the Yard. "Millicent, Eric said..." "I'm well aware of what Eric said, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind you and this particular person keeping each others' company, trust me." She says as she drops the file she's writing in on my bedside table before coming to sit beside me on the bed.

With one last awkward farewell, Millicent moved toward the door, though her feet were making her unnecessarily slow. Throughout the morning, she had found thousands of things to keep herself busy and procrastinate as much as possible until meeting time with the executives, but now she had nowhere else to run. She had spent the night awake trying to force herself to not care about what was happening, but…

It took some effort before the board lifted with a slow, echoing creak. Underneath was a dark, hollow space. The damp, dusty smell rose instantly. I reached inside, fingers finding something stiff, with frayed edges. Pulling it free sent a cloud of dust swirling into my face, making me cough. A book. Its cover was pure black, the surface cracked like old skin. In the center was an embossed silver emblem of a thorn crown, the shine long faded. At the lower corner was a name: Millicent Whitmore. Mrs. Whitmore. The name made my spine tighten. The woman who, according to village whispers, once worked for the Blackwell family… and vanished decades ago.
