Myra  In the small pantry beside the kitchen, where I kept my herbs and the pack’s records, the air seemed to freeze. In the crystal bowl in my hands, Caroline’s blood and the comparison sample from the pack archives did not simply mix. They fused, almost becoming one. This kind of reaction was only possible between the closest blood relatives. “This can’t be true…” I whispered, my legs nearly giving out beneath me. I checked the pattern again and again. The match between Caroline’s blood and one of the mountain’s oldest, purest warrior bloodlines was perfect. She was not a distant relative. Not a nameless bastard.

I nod, wanting to know where he was going with this and how it would be possible to talk to Julian without any sort of assistance. “Okay.
