This never occurred to him. These exotic abyssal beasts were really strange, hatching from stones. While the man told Philip about the forbidden abyss and the situation here, his hands moved imperceptibly all throughout. Some dark red powder floated out of his hands, which fell on the stones and started corroding them.

Within the separate, Ethan saw a faint shine, a little, flashing light that appeared to beckon them forward. “That's it,” Miriam said, her voice resounding within the emptiness. “The heart of the abyss.” They moved towards the light, the quietness around them was harsh. As they drew closer, Ethan felt the weight of the obscurity squeezing down on him, the air became colder with each step. At last, they came to the heart of the abyss, a gigantic, throbbing sphere of darkness that drifted within the air before them. The light that had drawn them in was coming from inside it, a little, flashing fire that appeared to be battling against the obscurity.
