Blood on the Asphalt biker

Blood on the Asphalt biker

Even Reaper and Sienna had relaxed, sitting on the edge of the holographic projector, watching the map. I looked at the global projection glowing in the center of the room. The massive, pulsing crimson dot over the Mariana Trench was entirely greyed out. Abyssal-One was offline. "You did good, Ghost," Dax said, walking up behind the couch. He handed me a canteen of actual, purified water a luxury we hadn't seen in months. He had showered and changed back into his signature heavy leather cut, his Phase-Knife strapped to his thigh.

The Alpha Biker's Healer

The Alpha Biker's Healer

His face had become pale as death. I could barely breathe. The voice continued. "Ten thousand years." A pause. Then another laugh. "Did you really think that would be enough?" The abyss moved. Not the creature. The abyss itself. The darkness twisted. Shifted. Flowed like liquid. Then two enormous shapes appeared within it. Eyes. My heart nearly stopped. Eyes larger than buildings. Eyes glowing with molten gold. They opened slowly. Watching. Studying. Awakening. The underground city suddenly felt very small.

Ablaze

Ablaze

Rhodes drew in a sharp breath, almost a gasp. We stared at each other, in disbelief, drinking the moment. I felt myself being drawn to him, as if a thread was holding us together, pulling us nearer. The only thing I could see were his amber eyes, boring into mine, I swear I could hear the thump of our hearts beating in time, could feel the blood pulsating through my veins. It’s as if the whole world fell away and there was only him.

Abysmal Reality

His cold eyes remained, yet his lips slowly curved into a devilish smirk. Let's see if you can still say those words at our next meeting, Vestian. "Whoever fights with monster should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster and if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you," Celestin stated a quote out of the blue. "Remember my favorite quote I used to tell you, father?" "What the heck are you talking about, you futile child?"

Dumping My Ex to Flash Marry the Untouchable CEO

Dumping My Ex to Flash Marry the Untouchable CEO

“No matter what it is, your matters are always the most important to me. With me, you will always come first. You don’t need to hold back.” “Alright, I understand.” Aurora nodded seriously. When she looked up, she met the tenderness in his eyes. His gaze was like a deep abyss, and as their eyes locked, Aurora grew embarrassed. Without realizing it, she was being pulled in. It was just like the saying—when you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you. That was exactly how she felt under Lucas’ eyes now. She quickly turned her gaze aside, no longer able to keep staring at him. “It’s late. I want to wash up and sleep.”

Lin Wilkerson
Book has good qualities, yet I find myself skipping parts of it because it becomes boring and drags. I Love that you are updating 6 or more chapters daily, but I would like this book finished with an awesome ending. Also, when will Lucas's identity be revealed? It's at 476 chapters and counting.

Currently I am losing interest in reading this book because of so much unnecessary dragging of the storyline. Plus Lucas' character is losing the charm and power it held at the start. Aurora and Lucas are now becoming the side characters in their own story.

Enslaved by my Husband's Beta

Enslaved by my Husband's Beta

The Abyss was no longer a distant threat; it was our next destination. The journey to the Abyss was unlike anything I had ever experienced. The shard guided us, its light cutting through the oppressive darkness. The world around us seemed to blur and twist, as if reality itself was unraveling. Finally, we reached the threshold—a jagged chasm that seemed to stretch infinitely into the void. The air was heavy with the scent of sulfur and the sound of whispers, faint and insidious. “This is it,” I said, gripping the shard tightly. Kaela drew her daggers, her expression grim. “No turning back now.”

Poison Magic: Fantasy Collection

Poison Magic: Fantasy Collection

"I think it's dead. It stopped working when Nadia pushed her magic into the deer, nearly burning herself with it." Hestia reaches across the table and carefully removes the cracked stone. "It's the same symbols as before," she whispers looking up at us. "Did we ever find out what they say?" Calliope asks from Trey's lap. Katherine nods her head. "The symbols means the Abyss." "What is Abyss?" Knox asks. "I know you were looking into it before, but I can't remember what you said about it," he says looking over at Trey.

hadn't just revealed the supernatural to humans; it had sent a massive, high-decibel ping into the Abyssal Trenches. "Xander," Cassius called out, his voice tight. "The Flare... it didn't just stop at the atmosphere. It traveled through the water. Something in the Mariana Trench just answered." The screen flickered, showing a thermal signature five miles deep - a creature so large its heartbeat registered as a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. The "Day of the Open Eye" was over. The era of the Abyssal Tide had begun. The world was watching, but the things watching back from the dark were much, much older.

The Omega Queen

The Omega Queen

This was the Abyss. The path ended sooner than I expected. My foot slid against gravel and pebbles skittered down, bouncing into emptiness. I crouched, stretching my hand outward, and felt nothing but air. My stomach knotted as I realized I was standing at the lip of a pit so vast I couldn’t measure it. My ears strained, but no echo returned. That was worse than hearing it. It was the proof of a bottomless hunger, a place where sound itself was swallowed whole. And then the eyes appeared.

Feral on the Ice

Feral on the Ice

They looked at the golden light of Elara, who was starting to fade, her edges blurring into the violet lasers. "She's giving up," Jax whispered. "The 'Soul' can't survive without the 'Will.' She thinks we’re already gone." The Abyssal Match The silence of the abyss was broken by a rhythmic, mechanical clanking. From the dark corridors, the System-Sweepers emerged. They were massive, geometric spiders made of "Negative-Space," their eyes glowing with a cold violet. "They're starting the 'Cache-Clear'," Zane said, his grey wireframe claws extending. "Rhys! Bridge the cage! We need a Symmetry-Match!"

It’s a line from Nietzsche’s 'Beyond Good and Evil,' but honestly, I think most people encounter it through pop culture these days. The full quote is, "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." It’s not about literal staring into a pit. The abyss is a metaphor for confronting something profoundly dark, chaotic, or nihilistic—could be the worst parts of human nature, the void of a meaningless universe, your own trauma. The staring back part is the real kicker. It means that when you examine that darkness too intently, it changes you. You internalize it. Your own nature reflects the darkness you’re studying. You start to understand it, maybe even sympathize with it, and that understanding leaves a permanent mark.

I saw it play out in a character arc once, in a novel I can’t even remember the name of now. The detective was so obsessed with catching a serial killer, learning his motives and methods, that he began to adopt the killer’s cold, detached logic. He didn’t turn evil, but he lost a piece of his own humanity in the pursuit. That’s the abyss staring back. It’ s not about being corrupted into a villain, necessarily. It’s about the cost of truly knowing a thing. You can’t unsee it, and seeing it reshapes your lens on everything else. The phrase always gives me a chill because it feels so true to certain life experiences, the kind that leave you quieter, harder to reach.
