My name was Michael Xander, and I worked as the HR manager for a multinational corporation. With the holidays approaching, I decided to take my girlfriend on a trip to unwind. We had been dating for nearly three months, but she often complained that I was too busy and rarely spent time with her. Occasionally, she would even hint at breaking up over that. So, I spontaneously booked us on a tour for quality time together. During the journey, Sophie could not stop smiling and, in a rare gesture, hugged me tightly, planting a few sweet kisses on my cheek.

She didn't get the chance. Holiday clapped her hands once, sharp and percussive, and the moment dissolved. "Change of plans." Maya immediately distrusted every word that was about to follow. After our final paper for the semester, Gracie and her friend, Melody, drove me home in Melody's car, and once again, I allowed them to convince me to attend a final-year student's birthday party. By tomorrow, most students will leave for the holiday, and before the weekend, the Dorm will be empty. Unlike other semesters where a few students might decide to stay behind. It's the Christmas holiday. A time for family, friends, parties, and reunions. I doubt anyone would stay back at the Dorm. So tonight would be more like one last fun before the Christmas break. I caved and went for the party, pushing the thoughts of EMK and the fact that he might come for me any moment, far away from my mind.
