He smiled and said, "Let's go." **** The meatloaf was tasty as usual; why Lauren and her friends chose it every year for this special celebration. Wine flowed freely with one designated driver for each car. Talk turned to family, and all the love in the air. Lauren glanced around the table at the loving couples: Sam and Elliott, their first married Christmas together; Avri and Dillon, their first Christmas together in a number of years, so special with their five-year-old son, Drew. Her eyes were drawn to her own loving man. His face lit up when his eyes met hers across the table.

"Carlo, let's break up. We're from different worlds. I'm exhausted. I need to go back to my own life." Tears streamed down his face as he said desperately, "No, I won't agree. As long as I don't agree, we are not breaking up!" I forced a bitter smile. "You should be happy. In this relationship, you never wanted to share your life, and you didn't want me controlling you. From now on, no one will control you anymore." He gripped my shoulders and pleaded, "I told you, I want to spend this Christmas with you." I pushed his hand aside, smiling bitterly. "It's a shame there won't be a next year."

"Am I coming over tonight? I booked a private chef. Your favorite." Jordan gently took her wrists and lowered her hands. "Actually, no. I'm heading down to Medina with Mike. Gonna see family for the holidays. I'll see you sometime after New Year's." April's expression soured instantly. "Are you serious? It's Christmas week, Jordan. You'd rather freeze in Ohio than come to Cancun with me? We could be drinking champagne in a hot tub, skinny dipping, talking about our wedding—" Jordan froze mid-button. "Wedding? April, I don't remember proposing."

Their laughter mingled with the crackle of the fireplace, creating a symphony of domestic bliss that filled the air. "This tree is going to be the most beautiful one on the block," Barbara proclaimed, stepping back to admire their handiwork. She turned to Casey, her hazel eyes sparkling with excitement. "Can you believe it's our first Christmas in our new home?" Casey smiled, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. "I can't think of a better way to start our new life together." He pressed a tender kiss to her forehead, savoring the warmth of her embrace.

2 years later... It was going to be the best Christmas ever. Three days before Christmas and Nicholas couldn't think of a time he'd been happier. Last year, he'd married Molly on Christmas Eve. This year, he hoped they could just enjoy their Christmas together in their new home. They'd purchased the small house in town that Molly had always secretly loved. Things were going exactly to plan. Nicholas hoped for a quiet Christmas this year, and it looked like he might get it.

Cole nudged him and said, “Come on, Uncle. It’s my wife’s first Christmas with us.” He relented, and not more than a few minutes later I had three Bianchi men in matching red sweaters with white reindeers on them. I bought cute white sweaters with green Christmas trees on them for me and Mrs Bianchi and the twins. We took family pictures and a few with just two of us.
