I hear crying. No, someone is sobbing. It's an animalistic, guttural sobbing, the kind that leaves claw marks on your soul. And then I am him. Rhydar. But not like the monster I know. He's... tiny. Ten? Eleven? He's locked in a steel room, curled up on the floor, shivering, his eyes swollen from crying. Everything hurts. It's the kind of agony that would make anyone wish for death. I cried. My words seemed to work as a huge slap landed on my backside. My head swung back as I yelped, but I didn't dare move from where I knelt. The cold rain washed away the stinging feeling before another blow landed on my back, completely unexpected. I screamed, heat burning me from inside out as tears filled my eyes. Yet, despite the agonizing pain that filled me, moisture kept leaking down my folds, sliding down my thighs as it mixed with the rain.

I whispered when I was close enough. "I— I was— was bad. . . I'm sorry," he whispered in defeat. I touched his cheeks and he leaned into it. When he least expected it, I stabbed his neck with the sedative. He gasped in shock and began to fall when I caught him. We both slowly dropped to the floor, his head rested on my laps and I pushed his hair away from his face. "I need to see Rainbow. . ." He mumbled over and over again. That was when I began to sob uncontrollably. "Rainbow is gone!" I cried. "When will you learn that?" I added. "You need to move on. It's what she wanted."

She stood there soaked in blood, chest rising and falling, looking dangerous under the moonlight. Not like someone who had been caught. Like someone who had just shown everyone what she really was. I stared. Malcolm stared. Then Malcolm burst into laughter, shocked and proud all at once. He rushed to her and pulled her into a fierce hug. “That was brilliant,” he said. “You made it rain blood!” Rain laughed breathlessly, still shaken but glowing with adrenaline. “I call it Make it Rain.” Malcolm laughed harder. “I love it.” For a brief second, seeing her alive, fierce, and smiling lit something inside me.

She stops when she saw her mom crying and then, there is Dash standing in front of her. “Dash? Mom! What happened to you? Why are you crying? Dash! What did you say to her?” She pushed Dash and ran into her mom, and hugged her. “It’s okay mom, I’m already here. What’s wrong?” Her voice was almost shaking because of the worriedness for her mom. “Gummy, what Dash’s told me, is that true? Did you really humiliate Jane in front of your schoolmates?” her mom said in between her sobs with heavy breathing.

“I was so scared to tell you. I thought you’d be disappointed. I thought you’d hate me.” I grab her face, making her meet my gaze. “I could never hate you. Do you understand? Never.” She cries even harder now. I hold her close. The door swings open again. Rina stands there, mouth agape, eyes wide. “Big Sister Selena? Maya? Why are you crying?” Maya quickly wipes her cheeks. “We’re not crying.” “You’re crying. Your face is wet.” “It’s just sweat.” “It’s winter!” I chuckle, and Rina’s expression breaks into a pout.

Hell, my skin still crawled just thinking about it. The pain had been unbearable... Suddenly, I felt someone gently touching my hand. My head snapped up. I hadn’t even realized that I lowered my gaze. Or even that I was crying... “I can’t really say I’m sorry about that,” Rain confessed bluntly, as always. And gentle as always, he reached out to wipe away my tears. “But I don’t like to see you hurting.” If nothing else, he could always make me laugh...

And I knew she was trying to stop me from crying, but I felt her voice inside of me, circulating in my brain, and scratching an itch, I didn’t realize existed. And it was amazing. “I know.. I - Just. I’m sorry,” I whispered out loud as I tried and failed to wipe off my tears. My bedroom door burst open, and Minna ran in with a look o alarm on her face. “Are you okay?! You’re crying, Queen of Queens? What’s the problem? Is it the baby?, I’ll get the Lycan!” She yelled breathlessly as she surveyed me with wide-eyes, trying to locate the source of my tears.
