, she grumbled to herself. "It's one of the most mysterious and powerful symbols in Norse mythology. That form symbolizes, an inspiration of awe and fear: eight arms that look like spiked tridents radiate out from a central point as if defending that point, by going on the offensive against any and all hostile forces that surround it", she explained, "If Ray were to stand with it like this—", she imitated standing with her left arm brought forward, in imitation of holding a shield in front of her, "—it will act as a shield, probably not a real one, but a manifestation of one", she tried to explain.

I turned 180 degrees, seeing a darker wolf with its mouth around the sun. "What is it?" I asked, looking up at the man whose gaze never left the glass in front of us. "They say it's the Viking version of a yin yang. Wolf of the day always chasing the moon, and the wolf of the night, chasing the sun." "Like the Myth? Sköll and Hati?" He smiled softly, "I'm surprised you know your Norse mythology." "Everyone in the modern world has at least heard of them..." I spoke, looking at the pendant. "Why do you want to give it to me? Shouldn't it go to Adam?"

Holy shit, I can feel his emotions. "Fenrir." I called him. Fenrir is the son of Loki and a wolf in Norse Mythology so the nickname I have given him seems fitting. I can feel his amusement of my little nickname for him along with the sly smile he lets loose. "Well, someone is in a glorious mood today." His baritone voice is completely fitting, unfortunately. I don't particularly care for the actual concern I feel coming from him. What the fuck? I can't ask Ness because I have her cloaked to ensure that the Mate bond isn't detected, so I am totally on my own here. "I didn't see you for the run last night, it was a full moon."

I leaned forward, my brows furrowing, and stared at the screen. Everything we’d learned at the academy had indicated that Fenrir was a wolf, not a shifter. He was the offspring of Loki, the Norse god of mischief, and Angrboda, a giantess also known as the mother of monsters. The only non-animal child they’d had was a daughter called Hel, a goddess who was beautiful down one side of her body but a withered corpse on the other.

No one understood the words. No one has been able to interrupt the final curse till date. The skies opened. Lightning struck the trees. The earth shook. And just like that, the Moon vanished from the world. Some say she died beneath that tree. Some say she returned to the sky, watching everything from above. But the curse she left behind never faded. Every Alpha since then has died before their fortieth birthday. Every generation, brothers kill each other for the title. And no one, not even the strongest among them has been able to escape the fate she spoke into the soil.

Let me start from the very beginning. You are Sif. Or let me put it this way, you're Sif reincarnate. If you were raised by your real parents, you would have been named Sif and not your wolf. In Norse mythology, Sif is a golden-haired goddess associated with earth. She's the goddess of grain and fertility. She's Thor's wife. I got my wolf when I was fourteen. That was when I was told why I was named after Thor, the most widely-known powerful god of thunder, known for his bravery, strength, and healing powers. I also got to know all about you and our special mate bond.

I tell the wolf, and I see its eyes rest on me. “I doubt you know about Odin, Thor, and all the other gods. The other countries we went to never did.” I tell them. “But anyway, Odin is the king in Valhalla the home of the gods, Thor is the thunder God, and then there are gods like Baldur, Frigg, Heimdall, Tyr, and Idun. That is just some of them. And, of course, there is Freya, whom I have been named after.” I tell them, and it looks like they are listening.

Who am I to question a thousand year old prediction made by some long dead oracle? But I digress. So, the Council believes that since the prophecy says a "daughter of Sköll" in it, specifically mentioning the very male Norse God that werewolves are believed to hail from, means that the father must be a werewolf while the mother is a witch. Otherwise the verse would have said the "daughter of magic" or the "daughter of (insert gods name here)" Hermes, Loki, Thoth, take your pick. But no. It said daughter of Sköll.

Jayden whispers in shock. My head is pounding and I feel dizzy. Tara is Keturah, the moon goddess. The woman who has been helping me all this while is the moon goddess? I always knew she was different, but it never occurred to me. “Keturah, blessed goddess, mother of our kind, it's an honour to have you in our midst”, Kreed says, going one knee. Everybody in the room does the same including, Jayden. I keep sitting, trying my best to see through the tears that have clouded my vision.
