Monica's Engagement Ring From Friends Novels & Stories

Her eyes light up at my words. Before she can reply, I untangle our hands and step out of the door. I knew that if I stayed another moment, I would never leave. As soon as my plane landed, I stopped at a nearby Jewelry store and picked up the engagement ring I had special ordered for Maleah. A good friend recommended the shop, and it didn’t disappoint. The ring is a cushion-cut stone encircled by a halo of pink and white diamonds. I had them engrave it with the words, “My heart beats for you.” The shop’s owner assured me that Maleah would love it. I was on top of the world when I walked into, what I assumed, was a secured Confradia office.

I knew the ring was a replica but it still had some effect on me, as my breath seized for a moment as I saw how pretty the ring glowed on her finger. At least the five hundred thousand dollars I spent on the ring wasn't a waste, if the replica had such an effect on me, it would have an equal effect on my grandmother. It was an exclusive rooftop engagement party with a few guests. Our relationship was not yet public knowledge, and we both agreed to keep it private in the meantime. Mila's family was not in attendance, but she had invited two of her college friends for the party. The remaining guests were mine, which included Alex, Alberta, and some business associates.

I say as I come up behind them, their responses being shrieks when they hear my voice. “Elena!” I hear through hugs and kisses and they engulf me. Standing back, I look at my two best friends and realize how truly I had missed them. They were supposed to be my bridesmaids if I ever were to get married to Nicholas. Now I had to explain to them why I was wearing a £1.5 million diamond ring on my finger. We were finally seated after all the hellos and kisses, when Charlotte turned towards me,

Not to mention how they contorted things to portray me as the villain ― I manipulated the frat boy to assault the fat lady so I could seduce her nerdy pervert; and somewhere through all this, I was supposed to meet a dealer selling me an illicit kidney for my sick love child (who happens to be my sister with two fully functioning kidneys by the way). And people actually believe that shit! “Mel! Over here!” “Can we take a photo of your ring?” “Do you have a wedding date planned?” Thank goodness they’re more interested in her. She smiles. A very sincere fake grin that shows off her perfect teeth. She holds up her hand to show off her special ring … a harlequin black Opal encircled by smaller A

Mamá and I say in unison. Fiona laughs. “Relájate, Bella. I’m not pregnant.” “Then why does your face look like you just won Miss Universe?” I lean closer to the screen. “Talk. Before I lose my patience.” Fiona bites her lip, then lifts her left hand toward the camera. There’s a ring. Classic round diamond, sitting on a white gold band, catching light from every angle. For the first few seconds, my brain refuses to compute. “Shiny,” Max breathes, impressed.

“Be my wife.” My hands fly to my open mouth and tears pool in my eyes, blurring my vision. My jaw quivers and I can’t get anything intelligible out. Moonlight shines down on the ring, glinting before me. I nod, happy tears marring my cheeks. “Yes, Lucas,” I finally say and he takes my hand. He slides the ring on my finger, and it fits perfectly. The center stone is a large oval, sandwiched between two circle cut diamonds. The entire band is encrusted with smaller diamonds and it’s so damn sparkly and beautiful. My friends were right about Lucas going all out with an engagement ring.

"At least tell me it was worth it." "Oh, completely. Richard was squirming like a worm under a magnifying glass, Monica showed up and tried to one-up me with some cheap skincare gift, and Eleanor tried to act like she wasn't enjoying the chaos. Honestly, I think she lives for it." Alexander laughed, running a hand through his hair. "So the usual circus." "Exactly! And you should've seen Monica's face when I pulled out a red diamond necklace. Priceless." He gave me that look.....amused, a little proud, and just the tiniest bit dangerous. "You do enjoy stirring the pot, don't you?"

Monica said and got out of the car "Bye Monica" Eric said "Bye Eric, you take care of yourself." Monica replied Eric stayed until she entered into the building and then drove off. After Monica boarded the airplane she opened the gift box and it was the ring she dropped off on the table in a fit of anger, a new bracelet and a matching necklace with a note. Dear Monica,

“This isn’t just about me, is it?” She met my gaze then—sharp and measuring. “Let’s just say… I knew Camilla long before she wore designer gowns. Long before she married your father. And during the Iraq war… there were certain rings that moved more than just gold. She had her hands in things most people wouldn’t dare touch.” My pulse kicked up. “Antiquities?” Monica’s smile didn’t reach her eyes. “Mm. You’re a clever girl.” She reached across the table and patted my hand. “Now eat, before it gets cold. We’ll talk more soon.”

Adine, who looked at him, only frowned. Not long after, a small necklace of sparkling white color was shown by Dominik. "This is more appropriate to hang around your neck," said Dominik as he stood behind Adine. The Balinese-style bun made it easy for Dominik to attach the little necklace. Adine touched the dainty necklace; it was cool, and it glittered. The untainted diamond necklace with a single pendant was quite large, really adding to the luster of her flawless yellow skin. "Wow...you guys are like a king and queen." Monica excitedly clapped her hands as if she hoped Dominik would give her best friend a better life.
