I pushed my foot forward, slamming it into the side of the monster's face. The monster shrieked, rolling around the floor in pain. I kicked the monster once more, sending it flying into the opposite wall. The monster rolled several times across the floor before coming to a stop. "Answer me! What source?" The monster remained silent—still and motionless. Ah, shit! I mistakenly killed it. What's wrong with me?! I'm the only person on this whole damn planet who could understand them, yet I accidentally killed it because I wasn't paying attention!

“Mommies and daddies sometimes stop loving each other, but it doesn’t mean they don’t love you.” “Father hates me,” Monster hissed. “He wants me dead, but he can’t kill me.” He let out a deranged high-pitched little chuckle that turned my stomach to ice. “The Moon Goddess will strike him down. She told me so.” I nodded. Monster plopped himself on the bed next to me. “He sent a man,” he said again. “What did the man do?” I repeated the question.

Peeping with my right eye, I saw Mellon standing in front of us, making circles and hand signs in the air where a whooshing white smoke created a portal at the end of the hallway. "Monica." I shook her shoulders. "Mother of-- who is that?" "Mellon," I answered. We watched how Mellon enchanted a spell that ate the three-headed monster back into their world before everything whooshed back to the normal set of the second floor. "Thank you," I uttered. Pivoting in his grace, Mellon's eyes are weaker than the last time I saw him. "Are you okay?" I asked, but before he could say a word, a body fell beside my feet.

As we walked, Tommy explained the game to me. “It's called MonsterGo,” he said, pulling out his cell phone. “You open up the app and then monsters pop up on your screen. They can show up anywhere, so you have to run all over town to find them.” Tommy snatched my phone out of my hand and quickly downloaded the game for me. “There, now you can play too,” he said. I shrugged, seeing the game as the perfect opportunity to distract myself from the misery that was job hunting. We ran around the park for a bit and it wasn't long before I caught my first monster. It was called a “Stingly.”

-Please, sir, I didn't know they would be there, the stranger pleads. Just as I expect Damon to say something, he shoots the man in the leg. A sound that seems to come from hell escapes his mouth in the form of a laugh. The stranger's groans barely audible, drowned out by Damon's hysterical laughter. Lydia’s POV Leonidas surfaced again, water cascading down his face, dark hair plastered back against his head. His chest rose and fell, slick with the silver of moonlight, each ripple in the water cutting sharp against his shoulders as if the stream itself bowed to him. He turned his head, catching me watching him. The corner of his mouth tugged up, not in arrogance, not fully, but in that way that always felt like he knew more than I did. “You’re staring again, Little Flame,” he said, voice carrying easily across the water.

But what I got instead is even better than Josh, so rest in peace." I pulled out my phone and played the video. Pointing at the boy on the screen, I told her his name was Donald. Maybe one day, I would marry him. However, not now. After sitting there for a long time, talking softly about everything that had happened between Donald and me, I finally left.
