It is funny how a little thing like me can scare a monster like that. “Yeah, you don’t want to come down here by yourself.” The big monster said with a self satisfied smile. There was a twinkle in his eye that showed me I had become sad at the perfect time for him. Did he enjoy my sadness? When the big monster began walking again, his movements weren’t as smooth and his stance was defensive. Had I managed to scare him as well? I shook my head and remained still until after they had passed me. As I watched them, I wondered why they were walking in that direction. There was nothing but wall back there. “The door…” the voice in my head groaned warily.

Moana’s POV In the morning, I woke up on my straw bed in the cellar. The morning sun did not feel warm, it felt like a cold weight pressing against my eyes. I didn't feel like myself, my chest felt like it was filled with broken glass. Every time I took a breath, a sharp pain shot through my ribs. This was the Bond Sickness. My wolf was silent and cold in the back of my mind. She was mourning the mate who had thrown us away.

I walked two steps towards her but she walked three steps back. “Mia, don't do this.” “Monster! Get away from me,” she screamed and I paused. It was supposed to feel normal right? With one wave of my hand, I made a broken piece of concrete float into the air. I tossed it directly into the face of the monster. It fell to the ground, smashing into pieces. Its companions charged toward me, but I easily dodged the attacks. One of the monsters swung its branch, aiming to strike me. I quickly moved out of the way and placed my palm against its chest, causing it to fly backward. But then... Something strange, something new, happened. A warm sensation ran through his body. A feeling he hadn't experienced in years. Then I heard the growls of the monsters turn into coherent words.
