“I didn’t get the chance to thank you.” Her breath shook. “Thank me? You kissed me without my permission,” she whispered. “You scared me. And now—now you’re here? Why? What do you want from me?” The corner of his mouth tilted, almost amused. “So you know who I am.” “You’re Adriano Greco,” she said, her voice trembling. “The monster people talk about.” He took another step closer. “Monster?” he repeated softly. “That’s what they call me?”

His eyes are entirely pitch black, and he doesn’t look the slightest bit bothered even as Vanya chokes and sputters, her shaking fingers desperately trying to push his boot off. “I don’t hit women, Vanya. But I fight monsters and crush them because I can. And you…you’re just another breed of monster. The kind that is destined to die by my hands.” She coughs up blood, struggling to breathe. Her eyes are bigger than I’ve ever seen them, bulging in their sockets. She looks…terrified. Slowly, he moves his feet off her throat, and she chokes. I watch as he crouches in front of her, staring at her with a blank look on his face.

He bumped heavily into Benjamin who was just starting to get himself again. “Zamora divine god help us, what the hell is wrong with Ser Godfrey this is obviously not a ravage monster, i suspect it could be a legendary monster with such strength.” Mica added, her face down with the outcome of the fight. “Mica, I need you to distract the monster, I have an idea.” “Over here!” She said, her voice echoing through the colosseum, the monster's interest got back to her as she ran avoiding its shooting webs. Mica couldn’t keep up for long as the monster was getting closer each passing second.

They didn’t seem bothered by the violent winds just on the other side of the glass or the group of monsters lingering around them on the level. The monsters were covered in thick, black skin with dripping hands, just like Cosmo's. Their head dished in at the front, where the eyes and nose should have been, which stopped just above a huge mouth lined with thick, pointed teeth dripping in saliva. Each monster was hunched over and had the individual bones of its spine jutting out. Their ribs were exposed as well. The monsters had long, spindly arms with hooked fingers and toes. They were almost human if it weren't for the freakish heads and oozing arms.

I could feel every person in the line behind me staring as I walked away. It took me another two days to discover the stairs leading to the basement. Down there I discovered a throng of people, all of them armed to the hilt, milling about. The walls were covered with posters offering bounties on various monsters, like the ones Grayson had in Probet. There were dozens of them. And these had a lot more details about each creature. There was also a map on one wall, but unlike the one in Probet, this one was being constantly updated with information on where targets could be found.

He had stripped off his tactical vest and his torn linen shirt, sitting on a massive piece of driftwood that looked like the skeleton of a prehistoric beast. I didn't say anything. I just sat beside him, the sand cool and gritty beneath my palms. In the moonlight, the scars on his back—the jagged, systematic "Sequence 4" marks from his time at the De Luca clinic—looked like a roadmap of a war I was only beginning to understand. "You should be inside, Elara," he whispered, his voice a jagged rasp that barely carried over the sound of the Atlantic waves. "The 'Monster' isn't good company tonight. Not after what you saw."

“This marks the sixth death in two months. The Council has yet to identify the group calling themselves the ‘Rogue Cell,’ led by the mysterious ‘Monster Queen.’ Fear is gripping the Alpha Elite as the killer continues to bypass the most advanced security systems in Nocturna…” I scoffed and muted the screen. "The Monster Queen. What a ridiculous name." "She’s efficient, Kaelen," Silas reminded me. "No DNA. No footprints. Just bodies." The elevator opened to the penthouse of Lord Aaron, a man who had spent his life hoarding riches and looking down on the weak. Now, he was slumped over his desk, his eyes wide with a terror that had frozen on his face. The room was covered in blood. Whoever did

Their eyes met, and finally the silence broke between them. "What is it you want to say?" Mark asked gently, his gaze sincere, making Julie swallow hard as she remembered her current situation—single, with her partner in prison. If Liam truly was the perpetrator, then there was no hope for her future with him. The look that Mark had, which was directed at Julie, immediately made the girl forget that she promised Liam to fix everything. "Elizah keeps screaming hysterically whenever she hears or mentions the word 'monsters.' I take it that 'monsters' is plural, meaning more than one person committed this crime against her," Julie said, her voice calmer than before.

Yet now, faced with the cruel truth, the pain was unbearable. After saying that, Mom grabbed me by the collar. Her expression twisted with malice as she snarled, "Hand over the money, or don't bother calling me 'Mom'!" I wiped my tears and let out a cold laugh. "Fine." That single word made her freeze. When she came to her senses, a dark, vicious gleam flickered in her eyes. The next second, there was a deafening crack against my skull. Darkness swallowed my vision whole. When I woke up again, I couldn't see a thing.
