Monstrous Book Novels & Stories

I kept pounding until the last of my strength drained away, and I collapsed on the floor. Then, a sliver of light cut through the darkness. Moving toward it, I saw that it was Rosa. Her once-proud face was now covered with deep, crisscrossing scars. Coupled with the cold gleam in her eyes, her whole presence exuded unsettling eeriness. From the dim cellar, she looked even more terrifying. "Hazel, were you reborn too?" I froze. "What?" "Why did Dexter get into Grandcrest College this time? Why did Theo blow through all his money? Even you got into college! Why are you still living better than me?"

No one deserves to wield such great power, especially not monsters. “The book is enchanted…it can’t burn or physically get damaged, it protects itself so ease up with all of the threats. Hand the book back to me ,blood clocks its power and makes it harder for monsters to track it. More monsters are coming for it and some are already around the forest just like the one that burnt up the bus full of humans just to get the book. You have no idea what you are messing with doll face…now hand it over ,” “We have to find Freya,”

"Good. Now, eat. You look fragile, and I prefer my prizes to be strong enough to hold their weight." As I walked toward the dining hall, I realized the "Monster" wasn't just paying for Leo's life. He was rebuilding mine into something he could control. I was Chapter 10 of a story I didn't want to be in, and the ending felt further away than ever.

With a sound like a spine breaking and a bell tolling at the same time, the lockbook tore free. Corvin wrenched it out of the monster’s chest with both hands, dropping back onto the drift in a spray of pages and light. The effect on the librarian was instant. It convulsed. The towering body of stacked volumes jerked once, twice, the chains along its arms thrashing in wild, directionless spasms. Its ink‑eyes flared, then burst, black liquid pouring down its face like blood. “CORE TEXT REMOVED,” it howled, voice whipsawing between registers. “ACCESS— ACCESS— ACCESS—”

Its stone walls and tall windows gave it an almost cathedral-like appearance, and inside, the smell of aged paper and ink filled the air. Fatima and I wasted no time. We dove into the shelves, pulling out books about werewolves, local legends, and anything remotely connected to monsters. The hours ticked by, and the pile of books around us grew taller, but our frustration mounted. “Nothing,” Fatima muttered, slamming a book shut. “There’s nothing about deformed humans or monsters. It’s like we’re chasing shadows.” I rubbed my temples, exhaustion threatening to overwhelm me. “Maybe we’re looking in the wrong place. There has to be something—there’s always something.”

Thalia snapped, sword already gleaming in the lantern light. Nyra nocked an arrow, her eyes narrowed, calculating. “We’ll never hold them all off if they surround us.” Elias’ jaw set. “We don’t. We cut through and get out.” Simple. Brutal. The only chance we had. The first monster lunged, bursting through a bookcase with a screech that rattled the glass in the windows. Its face was a grotesque smear of features—mouth too wide, teeth crooked like shards of glass, eyes empty hollows rimmed with gold.

called Yue Hongbo suddenly, "Look at this." Chu Xun took over the thickset tome and saw the opened page depicting a hideous monster resembling a horned-unicorn with sharp fangs and a coat full of fur as hard as needles. Its hind limbs were thick but strong while its forelimbs were short, but clawed. "Horned Nightmarish Beast," Chu Xun read the name of the monster out loud. This race of powerful monsters was known to be bloodthirsty predators with an unquenchable yearning for carnage. But as far as he knew, Horned Nightmarish Beasts had been extinct for millennia.

The shelves held the exact books and as I flipped over it was still written in that language I couldn’t understand. With shivering hands I shut the book and kept it back, I had to find a doorway as soon as possible because if this place was real that meant the fire monster was also real. Something shiny caught my eyes from the shelf, when I pick it up I realized it was the same book the fire monster had entrusted into my hands. But the strangest of it all were the burnt marks that were on the edges of the book, exactly where its fingers had been. The fire monster was definitely real and that frightened me more than anything. I flipped through the pages but just like before I couldn’t read it

I gradually began to feel an itch in my soul. Following the sensation back home, I realized that the power had been cut because the bill was overdue. Everything inside the walk-in freezer began to thaw. Drawn by the sickly sweet scent, rats and cockroaches poured in through tiny holes in the walls. The cloyingly sweet cake was already devoured, but even more cockroaches and rats were gathering inside. I never knew that dead people could look so horrendous. Actually, I had been hiding a secret from Mom. Dad had met with me in private many times.
