They needed a place that Aethelgard couldn't touch, a place where they could gather their strength and find a way to fight back. Selene looked at the Archive records on her tablet. She said there was a location mentioned in the oldest scrolls, a place called the Moon’s Cradle. It was an ancient Silverback stronghold, hidden deep within the coastal ranges, protected by the same lunar energy that powered the well. She said it was a myth to most, but the Archive gave the exact coordinates.

“In the time before, before life, before there was even a touch of sunlight on our planet there were ten sister deities. They were as immortal as we are and emotionless for the world around them. Thousands, maybe even millions of years passed by until one of the sisters found something alive. A small flower, beautiful and bright like a diamond. She showed it to her sisters, who were all surprised by this life. I opened my mouth to tell him about it, but then small circles started forming around my index finger. The moment was calm, and I put my whole hand in the cold water. I couldn't see her face. Her back was facing me. The hair...it had silver strands. The image went away quickly, and then fire....angry flames around a crib replaced it. People were running.

He smirks. “Now, chain her properly.” His minions chained me to the floor, where I could barely move. Armond stood in the center of the stage. He raised his arms. “The blood moon rises tonight, and with her blood we will reign supreme.” He lifts an ornate goblet. The hall erupts in cheers. My anger boils over.

The shockwave rolls through the pack: heads snap down as one, throats bared, knees hitting stone in perfect unison. Even the elders bow. The mountain shudders—distant snow avalanches roaring, howls rising in layered harmony that shakes the stars. The Oracle steps back. Her milky eyes glow brighter for one heartbeat. “The moon has spoken. The flame has answered. Rise, Luna of the Northern Dominion.” I release Maureen’s hand only to lift the crown. Obsidian heavy. Each arch shimmered with a different color. Blue, rippling like a river. Red, flickering like flame. Green, alive with curling vines and the smell of fresh soil. I looked at the necklace after he had handed it back to Luna Rayne to see that it did indeed have a green cast to it. It was as if the moonstone was now incased in the green sunstone. Luna Rayne and I both stared in awe knowing that neither of us had ever seen anything like it before. “Did the spell work?” Alpha Hunter now asks Sal and Sal nods his head and says, “We won’t have to ever worry about seeing the Moon Witch again. She is a prisoner in her own realm.”
