Kael replied. “Helpful explanation.” He gave her a small smile. “They tell the story of the Twenty Moons.” Luna ran her fingers across one of the glowing carvings. The moment she touched it, a powerful wave of energy rushed through her. Her vision exploded with light. Suddenly she wasn’t standing in the stone circle anymore. She was somewhere else. A massive sky stretched above her. Twenty enormous moons filled the darkness, glowing in different colors—silver, blue, violet, gold.

The ache that comes from trying to live like a solitary creature when we were never made to be alone. And then there's mating. Fated mates. Chosen mates. The Moon Goddess, fate, bonds you can't break. I hate how much of it is real. Mom taps the magazine page. "The Lunar pack in Wyoming is hosting the ball on the next full moon. Unmated wolves will come. You will attend." My stomach twists. "I'm not into the mating thing anyway. You know I want college. I want to travel. I want to—" "Live like a human?" Mom says, and there's something sharp behind it, like she's afraid my dreams are an insult. "You can still have a life, Cat. Plenty of mated women go to school."

The Moon goddesses temple was a beautiful sight to behold. The temple stood majestically, its weathered stone façade glowing silver in the moonlight. Delicate carvings of crescent moons, stars, and lunar cycles adorned the walls, while intricate marble mosaics depicted the Moon Goddess's gentle power. A grand entrance, flanked by slender columns, led to a serene inner sanctum. Soft, ethereal light filtered through the temple's latticework ceiling, illuminating the central altar, where a glorious statue of the Moon Goddess shone.

Mom often says that a white moon urges us forward, a yellow moon calls us to reflect on the past, and a blue moon brings fortune. But a blood moon—well, she always said death follows a red moon. Her own mother passed away beneath one.

Evelyn's expression turned serious, and she leaned in close. "The Lunar Curse is an ancient legend, it's said to affect the lunar pack, causing them to...change during the full moon." I felt a shiver run down my spine as I listened to Evelyn's words. How come i was so unaware of it. Sure i heard some stories about it but i did not know it was this dangerous. "Change? What do you mean?" Evelyn hesitated, glancing around the kitchen as if she feared being overheard. "I shouldn't be telling you this,and I think you have a right to know. The Lunar Curse is said to bring out the...beast in those who are afflicted. They lose control, becoming violent and unpredictable."

I felt happy but deep inside I was always sad. I wasn't able to sleep that night. I kept turning around. The dream I used to have come back. This time I saw his face. His blue eyes sparkled. It had always been him. Mike. He even conquered me in my dreams. He never left me alone. Then, suddenly I was lost in darkness. Pitch black darkness everywhere I looked. But suddenly a beautiful woman came near me. She was dressed in white. Her hair was white as well. She hugged me. She comforted me. "Don't be afraid my child. I am the moon goddess. You are never alone. He is your world." she spoke. A knock on the door woke me up. It was my mom who came to wake me up.

Zero said so Moon's face suddenly brightened. "Do you mean flying a lantern?" Moon asked so Zero suddenly smiled. "Yes! Do you know what time that will start?" Zero asked. "This night, you were too early to run away." Moon said so Zero pout. "Is that so, can you fly lanterns too?" Zero asked, Moon nodded. "Yes, this is my first time flying a lantern so I'm here to buy a lantern." Moon said so Zero's eyes widened. "Me too!" Zero said excitedly so Moon's eyebrow rose.

I asked pointing towards the box. He walked to stand in front of me, "This is for you," he lifted the box slightly. "Open it," he nodded with his head. I slowly lifted the lid of the box and a small gasp escaped from my lips as I looked at the wind chime in the box. A smile instantly made its way on my face as I touched the cold surface with my fingers. It made a soft noise when I tried to remove it from the box. There were three golden rectangular tubes in the middle with small stars and moons dangling around them unevenly. The moons represented every shape of the moon while the stars were shining brightly around it.

Shadow growled. “Oh, please don’t yell, you’ll wake my grandpups and they’ve been through a lot. I am Storm’s mother, Selene. And yes, I am THE Moon Goddess.” She rolled her eyes. “Okay, so if you are the Moon Goddess, prove it.” Shadow demanded. Selene glared at Shadow and huffed. “Shadow and Jennifer Collins. How are your pups?” she asked. “How are Spyder and Spencer? Isn’t their mate expecting along with her cousin?”
