When I said it, I didn’t want her to be able to find any reason to question it. Until then, I planned to do everything I could to show her that nothing mattered to me more than her and her happiness. Melanie’s car was parked a few spaces down from mine, but she wasn’t waiting for me outside. I walked in and found her near the back, looking at books in the nonfiction section. “Looking for something to read?” I asked, shoving my hands in my pockets as I stood beside her. She shrugged. “I love self-help books. A lot of them repeat the same information, but it makes me feel like I’m getting my life together every time.”

This was my last hope. “This is my last hope! This fucking study is…” I would have roared, body trembling and palms sweating when my gaze fell on the bookshelf. “Maybe I'll find a book that will help with my madness after this.” I sighed, giving up. I began to rummage through the covers, hoping for a title that would catch my attention. Shawn seemed to read a lot of books on self-growth and improvement. He also read a few about redemption but when I found one titled: ‘The Weightiness of Guilt’, something about it drew me closer.

Even Brian didn’t stop nagging me until I told him I could no longer handle it. “You sound so bitter right now,” Judith said, typing in her passcode as we stopped at her door. We entered her room, and I headed straight for her bed. I expected her to protest that the bed would only make me want to sleep instead of read but she didn’t. “I’m not sounding bitter, I just don’t like the way everyone is trivializing my decision,” I said, picking the biggest book from the stack of books I left on the ground. I read from a self-help book I had once read, ‘Eat-That-Frog’, that eating your biggest frog first would make eating the smaller ones easier.

She nod her head before I walk away to scan for books. "I hope there is that book that Dawson was referring to." I murmured to myself. I do not want to believe him when he said that I can only buy that book in New York. What an expensive outlet of reference he got there, that boo-hoo. Instead of finding that big book on the hardbound section, I notice a colorful book with green as a dominant on its book cover and its title kinds of catch my attention. "Buy Yourself the Fcking Lilies?" I murmured and started opening the book pages and saw some notes which made me conclude that it is a self-help book.

It was cluttered with books and materials of all sorts. Several opened books were scattered on the computer table, with red marks and notes scrawled across the pages. Someone had been studying very hard there. Nathan slowly walked over and flipped through the books. Psychology? He frowned as he took in the room. He saw a lot of books on the shelf that didn't belong to him. His gaze was locked on the titles. "Best Ways to Handle Toxic People". "The Key to Overcoming Nasty People" "Foundations of Psychology" Nathan's lips curled slightly as a smirk played on his face.

I replied. "You don't want to know how many self-help books I've read ever since I met the three of you. I would have been crazy if I hadn't been doing that." She smiled. "They have helped me and making use of them in this situation as well isn't a bad idea." I ignored her jibe. "What if you stay at home? You won't have to stress yourself reading up on those self-help books." I asked, hoping she would miraculously change her mind.

I would look at the problem name Rahul hanging on us later on, lets enjoy the some moments of peace life bestowed me with. 'BEING A GOOD WIFE.' Book in my hand caught my eyeballs. How could I expect anything more better from him? " Mr Selfish. I will see you." I said banging the book on the mattress. Who does wants to know the secrets of being a good wife? What does he think of himself? Does he mean that I am not a good wife and that the reason he wants me to read all this bullshit stuff. I will also gift you a bundle of books titled 'The Million Ways of Using Your Brain' , 'Being a Sensible Husband.', 'The Art of Being Alive', 'Taming the Beast Within You.' ...and some more...Huhh.

I looked at the sets of books that cost me thousands of dollars, and hundreds of hours just to read all of them. “Yeah, Izzy,” I said as I grabbed the set of Percy Jackson Books by Rick Riordan, and I could almost feel tears form in my eyes, “these books seem like they’re harmless, but I know in myself what they do to me, and I know how much these books affect me spiritually. I need to let go of these books and set myself free from myself and my addiction.”

Yeah, the last few weeks haven't been too kind to me. There were a few good things that happened and like “motivation gurus” always say in such an intense manner, “concentrate on the positives”. While I was never a fan of these kinds of motivation write-ups, videos or even self-help books, I agreed with that. It never hurts to count your blessings. It never hurts to appreciate all the good things that have happened or are happening to you.
