he joked. I made us a simple breakfast, eggs, toast, fruit, and the strong coffee he liked. We ate at the island, talking about nothing heavy. He told me a funny story about one of his executives sending an email with the wrong attachment, a cat meme instead of the quarterly report. I told him about the latest drama in my study group someone accidentally calling the professor “daddy” in class. He grinned. “Sounds like a good time.” “It was mortifying for her,” I laughed. “But kind of hilarious.”
