Stories and folklore that have partly inspired my decision to climb it. Ever since I was a child, I have heard stories of the different monsters that exist at the very top of this mountain. My belief in these stories has gone through multiple stages. I spent most of my childhood thinking them to be the gospel and often wondered what it would be like to see these monsters and go on an adventure. Then, I became a teenager and disbelief took its place in my mind. I scoffed at those monster stories I once believed and made fun of anyone who brought them up. “Monsters don’t exist anywhere,” I often said. “They’re just stories that your parents tell you to keep you from going up that mountain.”

It wanted to throw me down into the deep, dark hole below the rocks. My lungs burned with every single breath I forced down my throat. The freezing air hurt terribly. Everything that had happened in the last three days had exhausted me, greatly. It had begun from going to the forest, meeting that betrayer, then following the sweet feeling I ought to have ignored. Then there were the stones, the door, and the oh-so-terrible creatures we had met. Instead of going away from that horrible land, I had dropped somewhere else. Finally, after walking for about half an hour, we got to the top of the mountain. Below the cliff was water, running narrowly in between trees, and jagged rocks. Falling was definitely death. The falling person might not even get to the water, they might fall on the rocks and bleed to death, after breaking all their bones.

I had trouble finding our house by the seashore at night. From this height, there was just one tiny light visible. This mountain's elevation is 4967 meters. I can not believe in myself that I climbed to this height. I feel as though I'm sitting at Mount Everest right now. I am so proud of myself for my little achievement. I faced so many difficulties while climbing the mountain. My feet are swelling, and after twelve hours of nonstop walking, my back hurts.
