DIRTY PAGES (A Short Story Collection)

DIRTY PAGES (A Short Story Collection)

"Some expedition journals even mention hearing phantom voices." I arch a brow. "Phantom voices?" She nods, eyes bright. "The frequencies are too low for us to consciously hear, but our brains still register them. Many mountaineers report feeling like they're being watched or followed." I glance at the storm raging beyond the glass. Somehow, I fail to share Nora's enthusiasm for her 'fun facts.' Then she cups a hand dramatically to her ear. "What are you--" "Shh! Listen. Can't you hear it?"

Cathy And The Beast

Cathy And The Beast

Stories and folklore that have partly inspired my decision to climb it. Ever since I was a child, I have heard stories of the different monsters that exist at the very top of this mountain. My belief in these stories has gone through multiple stages. I spent most of my childhood thinking them to be the gospel and often wondered what it would be like to see these monsters and go on an adventure. Then, I became a teenager and disbelief took its place in my mind. I scoffed at those monster stories I once believed and made fun of anyone who brought them up. “Monsters don’t exist anywhere,” I often said. “They’re just stories that your parents tell you to keep you from going up that mountain.”

Loved By A Shadow

Loved By A Shadow

"Well that was them, you know I'm a responsible person and I have experience in this terrain, I know these paths, its perfectly safe" "You DONT know the mountains, Not really" Lydia's tone dropped almost to a whisper, Eden almost had to strain her ears to catch exactly what she was saying, fear caressing her words "It isn't just mountaineering accidents and bumps and broken bones like a usual hiking trail. There are... stories. People have been vanishing, without a trace for years in that place. Only a few have come back, and they're, well they're different, not the same people they were when they went.. The things people have said they've experienced there, Shadows of people hiding behind t

The Billionaire's Obsession Came Too Late

The Billionaire's Obsession Came Too Late

Maryam pointed her finger toward the highest peak rising above the village. The mountain rose sharply against the sky. "There is a place at the very top of that mountain. An old, forgotten stone altar from the days before the cities are built." "What is up there?" I asked, my heart catching on her words. "It is a brutal unforgiving climb," Maryam's eyes locked onto mine with deep intensity. "It takes a strong man a full day and a full night of constant walking to reach the summit. The paths are completely washed out from the storm. People don't make it up there anymore. They get lost in the mist or they fall into the ravines."

Accidentally Mated To The Ruthless Lycan King

Accidentally Mated To The Ruthless Lycan King

It wanted to throw me down into the deep, dark hole below the rocks. My lungs burned with every single breath I forced down my throat. The freezing air hurt terribly. It felt like breathing in tiny pieces of sharp glass. My knees were scraped and bleeding from crawling up the hard stone ledges. The wet clothes I had taken from the kitchen were frozen completely solid now. The frozen cloth made it very hard to bend my legs and arms. But I did not stop. I kept climbing up the mountain. I pushed my numb fingers into the tiny cracks of the frozen stone walls. I dragged my heavy body upward inch by inch. I did not give up.

Seven Times I Came, Seven Times You Didn't

Seven Times I Came, Seven Times You Didn't

Word by word, I told him, "The first time I went down the mountain, there was a heavy rainstorm. The road was slippery, and I fell all the way down the slope. I was covered in blood. "But you promised you'd marry me in town. So, I held onto the wooden hairpin you gave me and crawled all the way there. I thought you'd be waiting for me at the city hall, but you were still in the mountains. "You told me Gemma's hut had collapsed in the rain, and you had to fix it. You told me to wait for next time." Joseph's eyes widened. His lips parted, but no words came out. I continued, "The second time, there was a snowstorm in the village. I crossed freezing rivers and fell into an ice hole. If a village

Life After Prison

Life After Prison

"Are you seriously thinking about going into the mountain? Do you know what mountain that is? The mountain is very steep and no one has ever conquered the mountain before. Thanks to that mountain, those fierce wild animals from the forest could not enter our city." The man dressed in white continued, "I overheard a case. Three level one or level two profound masters went into the mountain to seek a type of herb. But no one has ever seen them after that or anyone heard of them returning from the mountain. People said the mountain must have taken their lives. Three profound masters went together and none of them returned. Is that enough to tell you how dangerous the mountain is?" Despite that,

one of the best novels of this site. well written and great story. The only problem is Monday you get a lot of pages and chapters, and the rest of the week you get a page a day. Come on the author and this site can do better. Really about to stop reading because of this.

The Alpha King's Breeder

The Alpha King's Breeder

He didn’t mention any specific plans or hunting grounds, but after an hour, we reach the western edge of the forest where it bleeds into plains again, and stretches another hundred miles to another row of towering mountains where Moonrise is nestled somewhere in the valleys. But the mountains to the south are draped in moonlight and beckoning to me, so I turn in that direction. The last time I hunted in these mountains, I got a mountain goat in an… unprecedented way. By nearly falling to my death, actually. Ryan had been there to witness it, of course, and it’s a story he loves to tell anyone willing to listen. Ryan follows me through the plains under a cloak of moonlight. I feel light as ai

These books have been my lifeline. I am crushed to reach this point and have to leave this beautifully tragic world and all its perfectly flawed characters. I can't wait for the next update, and honestly hope (though I know it is in vain) we get to follow this family tree for even more generations.

The Lycan’s Claim On The Rejected Omega

The Lycan’s Claim On The Rejected Omega

Everything that had happened in the last three days had exhausted me, greatly. It had begun from going to the forest, meeting that betrayer, then following the sweet feeling I ought to have ignored. Then there were the stones, the door, and the oh-so-terrible creatures we had met. Instead of going away from that horrible land, I had dropped somewhere else. Finally, after walking for about half an hour, we got to the top of the mountain. Below the cliff was water, running narrowly in between trees, and jagged rocks. Falling was definitely death. The falling person might not even get to the water, they might fall on the rocks and bleed to death, after breaking all their bones.

Hmmmm , I always thought the Lycan king or prince would over rule a mere Alpha .. I don’t like the hesitation of the main character she had so many chances to reject and seemed to not realize she was screwing herself and her family.. she needs some backbone.. we all know who she should be

Just a few chapters and I’m already addicted. So much detail and description of the emotions and the bond with two different paths of alphas. I can imagine the choice but I know what mine would be for my own happiness I just hope Scarlett makes the same choice for herself.

CEO's Darkest Secret

CEO's Darkest Secret

I had trouble finding our house by the seashore at night. From this height, there was just one tiny light visible. This mountain's elevation is 4967 meters. I can not believe in myself that I climbed to this height. I feel as though I'm sitting at Mount Everest right now. I am so proud of myself for my little achievement. I faced so many difficulties while climbing the mountain. My feet are swelling, and after twelve hours of nonstop walking, my back hurts.
