My body tenses, a silent scream building in my throat. "It’s okay, Dana," Charles murmurs, his grip on my waist tightening. "It’s okay." The dam breaks. I begin to cry softly, the hot tears disappearing behind my lenses. My mother’s moaning grows louder down the line, a haunting sound that tears through the quiet. "Goddamn it," Eddie whispers, his voice thick. Jack clears his throat repeatedly, looking at the sky, while Derek doesn't bother hiding his pain. He covers his face with a handkerchief and sobs. When the coffin finally touches the bottom of the grave, it is time.

Evander was dead? I turned gently and slowly because of my protruding stomach to face it and then I saw the news. By the side of the television, there was a funeral ongoing at the courtyard. Lilith was bawling her eyes out with her best friend Lilly by her side and was led forward, probably to say her last words to him. The sound was muted so I couldn’t really figure out what she was saying. Then she threw a piece of flower into a coffin that wasn’t shown probably because of the viewer’s discretion. Zooming closer to her, her eyes were swollen as more tears streamed down and suddenly she fainted. Lily and the physicians quickly carried her inside the room.

"I came to apologize. I didn't realize how incredible you were. I almost dragged you down." I smiled faintly. "No need for that. We're done." His lips trembled. "You really want this? You said you'd love me forever." I arched an eyebrow. "And you swore you'd never hurt me." Sorrow glistened in his eyes. "Are you still mad? But nothing is going on between Megan and me, I promise. Those marks you saw were just allergic reactions." I cut him off, my voice sharp. "Face it. It ended the moment you skipped Alex's funeral. I only stayed as long as I did for him. He cared about you."

Evander grabs Kaden by his hand, yelling in his face, "Pull yourself together! She’s dead! She’s gone! Why are you still fighting?!" Kaden's stoic demeanour is shattered, his eyes betray a grief so profound that it seems to cut through the very core of his being. Evander lets go of Kaden and walks over to Landon. He says no words to the cousin, rather, he quietly assembles figs and wood from the trees and bushes close by. He works swiftly to prepare a funeral pyre of wood and fallen leaves.
