“I heard there’s a whiny patient who needs a heart check-up,” Mischa announced, deadly serious, patting the tiny pocket of his coat that held mint candies.
“This one keeps complaining,” Max added, bouncing onto the side of the bed. “He said the porridge tastes like dirty pool water.”
Pascha squinted at them. “You two working for Igor now?”
“I’m a doctor,” Mischa said, chin lifted. “Doctors don’t take bribes.”
“Unless it’s croissants,” I noted, spotting the crumbs on his lips.
