Here was a horrible looking monster with a ripped throat standing at her front. She screamed out and walked backward. The horrible looking creature walked out her. "Somebody help." She screamed out leaning to the wall like she was going to enter into it. The monster raised his hand up to hit her away but it caught the wire above his head and it shocked him hard. Damien's POV The scream split the room like a thrown glass. Mrs. Osmond came crashing through the double doors in a storm of satin and screeching pearls, hair wild, mascara streaked into war paint. Her voice tore across the chandeliers: “Carlos! You scum! How dare you…on our daughter’s birthday? On our bed?!” She stamped like a woman carving a new history with every step. The room convulsed. Conversations hiccupped into silence, then rose into a howl. Forks clattered. Someone knocked over a flute; it shattered into high, accusing notes. People clustered like frightened birds, necks craning for the show.

And then— The moon shifted. I tilted my head back, breath stolen from my chest as the pure white glow turned the color of fresh blood. The entire world seemed to pause under its gaze. The witch screamed, a sound too human to belong to her, before collapsing to the ground. My gaze snapped back to Lorien. He was trembling, his lips pale, eyes wide with terror. “Hey,” I whispered, catching his face in my hands. “Look at me. Just me. You’re safe.”

Just as they were starting to feel a sense of progress, a sharp, blood-curdling scream pierced the air, shattering the relative calm. The sound echoed through the mansion, chilling them to the bone. Everyone froze, their eyes wide with alarm. “What the hell was that?” Liam asked, his voice low and tense. Lucian was already on his feet, his expression grim. “Stay here,” he said, making his way toward the door. “No way,” Lily said, standing as well. “We’re coming with you.” Lucian hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Fine. But stay close.” The group came out of the study, their earlier plans momentarily forgotten as they followed the sound of the scream.

The usual sounds of night—owls, rustling leaves, distant howls—were gone. It was unsettling. Annie scanned the ground, searching for tracks. “They couldn’t have gotten far.” Melisa sniffed the air. “No scents. No tracks. It’s like they disappeared.” Annie’s gut twisted. Something was very, very wrong. Then— A sound. Faint. Distant. But unmistakable. A scream. Annie didn’t think. She ran. Branches tore at her arms, her legs, but she didn’t stop. Then she saw it.
