Needless to say, it is never a dull day in my life, and I never run out of stories to tell at parties. So, it was almost expected that I wouldn’t meet my mate the normal way. Most people meet their mates at a party or a café, they lock eyes from across a room, they go to the same park one day. You get the picture—there are hundreds of normal ways to meet a mate. Of course, I’m the one that meets my mate at my father’s murder scene, my mate being the number one and only suspect. If it weren’t so disturbing, I’d laugh about it. She was now face to face with Luke's killer abs that can make any girl faint and she was not an exemption. I have heard a lot of mind-blowing crazy things in this life. I have read novels about a cousin's relationship that ends with a happy-ever-after. I have read stories about young, naive girls falling in love with ruthless mafias and syndicate bosses. There are a lot of interesting stories, including immortal creatures falling in love with pure humans, reincarnations, and all, but I have not yet come across a story where some dumb ass girl falls for a murderer who murdered her innocent mother and shot her father almost to death, or to death, actually. I don’t know why I have a feeling of not seeing my father as dead, but I am still doubting he could have survived all those bullets.

In 1983 a Mrs Carson of New York was laid out in our coffin, presumed dead of hear disease. As mourners watched, she suddenly sat up, alive as you or I. Then I got back to my research again browsing through criminal cases described in news articles and web forums. An hour passed and I was tired of reading bloody stories that got me nowhere near something I could use in the novel, so I began to grumble on one of the mystery-crime forums. “Help me out. Have you heard of any interesting murder case nowadays? I swear, I’m not a psycho, I’m a writer begging for an inspiration,” I hoped that sounded convincing enough. No one was answering. I’d waited for an hour and got little bit frustrated. I was about to get back to my previous way of research but then someone replied.

Most things are about detectives and all their boring stuff but something tells me to go through it because I might know a thing or two. I've opened almost all the books on the first shelf. Turns out detective books are not so bad. I also passed out my time by checking some of the murder novels on the shelve. One really caught my interest. Dying to call you by Elaine Viet. It's about a girl finding her sister's murderer and all that.
