Best Friend's Dad Chapter 1: The Lake House The weekend at the lake house started like any other summer trip. My best friend Ryan invited me along because his dad had the big place all to himself now that the divorce was final. I said yes right away. Not because of the swimming or the boat. Because of him. Mr. Kane. Ryan's dad.

"Tessa, meet my dad, Julian Anderson, and dad, meet Tessa, the best friend I wouldn't stop blabbering about." She smiled, gesturing between her best friend and her father. Her dad? Tessa's brows pulled together in confusion. A million questions swarmed her thoughts. There was no way this Greek god in front of her was Maribel's father. No way. She was still wallowing in doubt when the myth about him struck her, and she instantly believed it.

I answered, "anyway, my dad was my best friend. He was my partner in crime. I mean, sometimes he could be super embarrassing but I wouldn't have changed that about him." "You know your parents would be proud of you. You haven't given up. You've fought to make each day better than the last. I may not have known them but I gather they would have done anything for you, anything to protect you," Julian shifted us so that I laid flat on the bed with him hovering above me. With the pad of his thumb, he traced the sharp line of my cheekbone, "I don't know why that pathetic mutt left you alive that day but I'm glad he did."

Though, he was older but lacked in studies which made him repeat a couple of years in school" Yeah right, I forgot that I was dating my dad's friend. He would probably die from a stroke the minute he find out, I couldn't imagine what his face would be and I hope he never finds out till I finish college. "Did he do something?"

“You really like your mom.” “She’s awesome.” There wasn’t even a second of hesitation. The certainty in it made something shift quietly inside Alec. He looked away for a moment. “That’s nice.” Maxwell tilted his head slightly. “What about your parents?” Alec stayed quiet longer this time. And then, “My dad is my best friend.” The words came easier than expected. Because they were true. Everyone else seemed terrified of his father, but Alec had never understood why. Denver was calmer around him than anyone else in the world.
