They acknowledged their culpability, though exerting full control over the situation remained beyond their purview. "I am not here to engage in idle conversation. Proceed with your tasks." Their boss's response left no ambiguity; he would not entertain extraneous discourse. While his temperament generally did not lend itself to impatience over trifles, certain aspects beyond his control unwittingly elicited such reactions. He was no longer the same person, rendered incapable of enduring prolonged waits when crucial matters unfolded before him.
