“Watch.” Lyra wound up and blew an enormous bubble, big as her own head, gleaming with impossible colors. It floated upward, caught a breeze, and began to drift toward the rose hedge where it would certainly pop. If I may ask why do they call you bubbles?” Elena asked, deepening her fingers in the water. “Oh that's because I make bubbles when I get excited!” Bubbles said, hitting her tail in the water while bubbles came out from her nostrils.

Andrea spun around, raised his bubble gun, and blasted her right in the face with a huge cloud of bubbles. “You asked for it!” Adele laughed, grabbing her own bubble gun from the blanket. She started firing back, pink and blue bubbles exploding everywhere. Andrea squealed—his high, happy scream that filled every empty corner inside me. He dodged and darted, laughing so hard he almost fell over. Adele chased him, pretending she couldn’t catch him, letting him get away just so he could feel fast and brave.

The bubble then glowed bright blue, like how he had seen the fairies as bubble creatures before, and when all around them was white, it felt like they were cut off from the outside world.
