I lean back in my seat, pressing my fingers to my throbbing temples as i close my eyes. I want to fight them on this... I really do, but if this will calm things down and prevent anyone from raising a hand at Destiny again, then, "Fine." Bob exhales and releases a small chuckle in victory, "Thank you Alpha." After the tired confrontation in my study, I return home. Destiny is sitting on the edge of her bed, clutching an ice pack to her cheek as she looks down at a book in her hands. She always reads when she’s sad.

Although Cam was excited to tell her friend everything, she left out a whole lot of detail for someone whom Mia thought gave a lot of detail. She could not tell Mia the most exciting parts of her night and it hurt her. She could not tell her that she had found her mate, and that he was a Beta. She could not tell Mia about her real past and about how she used to be an Omega as a child, until the day she fully turned and was then recognised as the Beta of their pack. The destined Beta that the moon goddess had aligned her destiny with her Alpha. She was her guardian. And Mia did not even know any of that.

I raised my eyes to meet his, deep pools that reflected the dancing firelight. My voice was soft as a breath. "Alpha Lucas. Tonight, make me yours... please."

“Goddess above… just like her.” She stood abruptly, unable to contain the trembling of her hands. “We must go to Dean.” Liora rose quickly, her stomach a knot of fear and confusion. “What does it mean?” she asked, her voice quivering. “Am I… am I your daughter? Or just—just a girl with a mark cursed to carry something I do not understand?” Loretta reached for her, cupping her cheek with a trembling hand. “You are no curse, child. You are destiny.”

But I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d seen this before — in that red desert, under the three moons. The devil had knocked. And now she wanted in.

This is as dangerous as it is delicious though, and I hurry away under the guise of fetching the drinks. On the other side of the gallery, I take a breather by the champagne table, trying to figure out what the hell is happening. I've been faithful to Desiree all these years, and I have no inention of changing that. I love my mate, am fiercely proud of her and loyal to her. And I know she's been the same to me. We're fated mates, and that is not something either of us take lightly. So why, all of a sudden, amd I intensely attracted to another woman?

I have so many questions that are being emptied into the wind, into the nothingness. “I know that they are in peace, but do you?” My eyes snaps to my side to see Chester kneeling next to me. He stares ahead at the burial ground. “You must believe that this is what they wanted. Destiny is such a grave. It drills your own life for you without your power, but that’s only because you thought so, Kaya.” He shifts his face to meet mine.

This is my destiny. No happiness. Just pain.
