Grandma shoved his hand away and crawled to my side, her trembling hands reached out to stroke my face again and again. "Chelsea, what's wrong? Open your eyes, please. Look at me." Tears flowed down from her aged, clouded eyes. "Chelsea. Oh, my poor granddaughter." If there was ever a single person in this world who truly loved me, it was Grandma. I drifted over to her side and lifted my hand to wipe away her tears, only to have my fingers pass right through her. I was dead now. There was nothing I could do except to watch helplessly as my elderly grandmother wept over me.

My legs trembled as I seated myself on the top stoop of the porch and accepted a cup of freshly brewed tea from my grandmother’s delicate hands. “You might as well tell us what’s on your mind,” my grandfather said patiently as he noisily sipped his tea. “If you don’t, I’ll just pull it out of your mind on my own. It seems I haven’t lost the touch. I have two grandchildren and their father had been sick because of the cold . My husband is working alone in the shop . My daughter in law is looking after my son . " She look sad .

She went up to her and held her wrist, wishing she would just spring into consciousness like people did in the movies. She wouldn't bear it if something worse happened to her grandmother. She already couldn't bear it. Her parents had both died because of her and now her grandmother had been severely burned, also because of her. Did that mean there was something seriously wrong with her? Maybe her children were even safer away from her. . . Her grandmother's hands began to do more than twitch. Her hands were shaking now, vibrating. Her heart began to pound in excitement. It had worked . Running out into the hallway, she began to scream for a nurse.

I made promises of the vile things I’d do to each and every one of them once I was free from the binds they’d put me in. My grandmother looked pale and faint. Her hand shook visibly as she mixed odd smelling liquids together. At one point my grandfather placed his hands over hers to steady them and looked her deep in the eyes. This seemed to calm her a little, until I renewed my threats and warnings and informed them of how delicious they smelled and of the pleasure I’d take in drinking every last drop of their blood.

“Oh, you’re even more beautiful in person.” I frowned slightly, looking more confused. “I’m Adrian’s grandmother.” I didn’t know what I expected but it wasn’t this. I gently ushered her in and offered her a seat but for some reasons, she held on to my hands. She sat across from me, holding my hands gently. “My grandson…” she sighed. “He’s not easy.” That was an understatement more like he’s an arrogant, condescending and annoying man. “But I saw something yesterday,” she continued. “Something I haven’t seen in years.”

I rushed to her side, holding her hand with an intensity that I couldn't hide. "Grandma," I whispered, tears rolling down my cheeks. She mustered a weak smile, her eyes filled with warmth and kindness despite her obvious struggle. "I'm okay, Sarah," she whispered, her voice quivering but filled with a reassuring tone. "I was so worried.” I spoke, my voice trembled with emotion, I tightened my grasp around her hand, feeling the gentle warmth and surprising strength in her fragile grip.
