“I don’t understand,” I whispered, my pulse quickening. “You’re saying I forgot my life?”
“Not all of it,” she said softly. “Just parts of it. The last few months, maybe a year.”
She turned to one of the nurses. “Please, get her family.”
Then they left the room, leaving me in silence.
I looked around desperately for my bag, my phone, anything familiar, but there was nothing.
I pressed my palms against my forehead, trying to remember, but each time I tried, a sharp pain shot through my head like an electric current.
