As the alpha turned to her with cold eyes, she muttered. “Not anymore, Myra. I reject you, and you don’t have my mark anymore,” he snarled as Myra felt that wicked pain on her wrist as she shot up from the bed. “No!” She screams out, her body trembling in shock as she stares at her arm, the mark still there, the room feels drowsy; meanwhile, Myra rushes to the toilet and turns on the shower, letting the cool water soothe her body. Myra rocks back and forth, feeling suffocated, until she touches her hands to confirm his mark is still there, a mark she had scratched until it became red.

“I’ll make all of this go away. You’ll get your life back.” My heart pounded in my chest. “And in exchange?” That wicked smile deepened. “You let me mark you.” The world seemed to stop. For a moment, I thought I’d misheard him. “What?” His voice was quiet, almost casual. “You heard me. Let me mark you, and I’ll delete everything.” I stared at him, horror flooding through me. “You’re insane.” “What does that even mean?” I demanded. “Mark me? What kind of sick game is this?”

I leaned my head against his chest, listening to his heart, which was now beating in perfect sync with mine. I was Caspian’s mate. I was part of something much bigger than a war between wolves and sorcerers. "Go to sleep, my Mate," Caspian whispered, kissing my forehead. "From tomorrow, the world will know who you really are. And they’ll have to go through me if they want to touch you." I closed my eyes, feeling safe for the first time in my life, while the mark on my neck felt warm, thrumming with new life.

I rush over there and pounce on top of Enzo but he kicks me off him and I hit the wall. Mark attacks while he’s distracted and bites down on Enzo’s shoulder blade. Enzo howls in pain and slams Mark against a wall to get him off. We have him surrounded and he knows it. We circle around him as he tries to anticipate who will attack first. I act as though I am about to lunge causing him to focus his attention on me while Mark pounces on Enzo about to rip his throat out when a spell hits Mark causing him to fly and crash through a door.

Then I bit down, breaking skin, and the coppery-iron taste of his blood came spilling into my mouth as I Marked him. This is going to scar, I mused cynically to myself, wincing, but the observation lasted for barely a moment before I was plunged into a world of vibrant colors and emotions so overpowering I almost lost my footing at the joy of discovering that something remained of Hector.
