He unlocked the gun case and gestured inside. “Pick. Ladies first, gentlemen.” A shiver ran down my spine as his husky voice washed over me. I grabbed a rifle, not even caring which one it was in my hurry to get away from the tantalizing scent the man wore. I deposited my bag inside of the gun safe and walked out of the hall. I was determined to put as much distance between me and them as I could. We normally hunted in groups, but my father had taught me well enough that I could take down a deer by myself. Getting it back to town, on the other hand, would require the men. Fuck.

I had only seen Mildred and Garren shift, so this was new. Hunter wasn’t nearly as big as Garren, but he was bigger than Mildred. His scales looked rougher, and he had spikes lining his back along his spine. His talons were longer than the others, and his wings looked like they were tipped with ice shards. “Hunter is the last of his kind,” Mildred said low enough for only me to hear. “He’s beautiful. He looks like he is covered in pieces of ice.” I said in awe. She let out a laugh.

Once inside, Hunter reversed the car sharply, speeding away from the scene. As they passed the motorcycles and cars belonging to Giovanni’s men, Hunter brought the car to a brief stop. He aimed his gun and fired at two of the motorcycles, hitting their fuel tanks. The bikes exploded instantly, the flames spreading to a nearby car, which also erupted in a fiery blast. Satisfied with the destruction, Hunter hit the gas, driving them away from the chaos.

He is standing with his back turned against me, his eyes trained on the other person. I focus on him instead. He looks stunned, his eyes widened, and his lips parted. “That is impossible,” he mutters, shaking his head. “That veil hasn’t been breached in years. He paused, looking back at me. “Hunters are military enhanced humans that can match us in both speed and strength. The difference is, we are more vulnerable to them than they are to us. Their armor isn’t easy to penetrate. Even for someone like you, your healing would be useless.” He paused again as if he was considering what to say. “Weapons tipped in silver and wolfbane is highly deadly to our kind. You are far more skilled than you should be, considering you just started, but you’ve never gone up against them. You would need to be trained on how to handle a hunter.” Tate continued.

The only thing left is the weakness she's still feeling. We came down from the truck with me grabbing my lucky axe and my backpack. I tucked my Beretta into my belt and got my axe ready in hand. I saw Austin arming himself with his Kimber Custom TLE II (EM) 1911 pistol and a blade he produced from his backpack. Clara took her katana from the back of the truck and used it to support herself as she walked .

I committed the image of Finn, Clarence, Dean, Rhys, and Bishop’s wolves to memory so I wouldn’t cause a friendly fire in battle.

They were usually referred to as ‘Normies’ by the New Types. Animal Hunters was the weakest class of enhanced humans. They were people who had taken the New Type potion, but didn’t have enough talent to gain greater strength. They were a capable fighting force since they could handle Low Class Magical Beasts with very little problem. However, they were looked down on by the stronger New Types since they were relatively weak to be called enhanced humans.
