“Are they really going to just let me fall back?” That's actually... cause me a sigh of relief. I'm tired by the eyes that following my every steps! Then there's Grandma I notice anxious and been in contact with the messengers lady. And everyone of them is given grandma a jade, however it only cause Grandma to deeply anxious. Then her expression greatly change, she said in certainty, “It must be those horrible species! The Lycan kidnapped the future of the huntress!” “Future... of the huntress?” I curiously eyed everyone that suddenly voice out their wanting to wipe out the species they despise.

Never unleashed. And Reed, God help her didn’t flinch. He didn’t lower his gun, either. His face was carved from stone. “You should’ve told me,” he said, his voice soft, dangerous. Her heart shattered. Axel’s smile widened, triumph blazing in his eyes. “She belongs with me.” Before Reed could answer, before Raven could speak, headlights flared at the far edge of the clearing. Trucks. Engines. Human Hunters. Dozens of them, armed to the teeth, pouring into the clearing like a wave of death.

“Earis will destroy the world after the death of a dragon and a newborn! The hunters will bring Carnage unlike any we've ever seen before and your perfect Luna will lead us to our deaths!” A loud static ringing buzzed inside my head. HXP protocol from the hunters, checked. Dragon, checked. Soon to be newborn, checked! WE'RE DOOMED!

My stomach dropped. "What?" He nodded. "I hired investigators to find you after you dared to run from me that morning. It took them a week to find you." Something was slamming hard against my rib cage in a really violent way. I knew what it was. My heart. "I found out who you were—Matteo Leone, a twenty three year old bisexual man, living in your father's house like a prisoner." He leaned forward slightly. "I learned everything about you—your urm... useless family, and your situation within hours of funding you."

We were a mile from the Aurelian tree line when the storm suddenly broke. The clouds parted, revealing a bright, mocking full moon. And directly above us, the whine of repulsor engines cut through the night. I looked up. Three Aurelian Hunter-Drones were sweeping the snowfield. They looked like silver arrowheads, equipped with heavy solar cannons. "Thermal sweep," Ashren’s voice warned in my head, his muscles tensing beneath me as he froze perfectly still against a snowbank, trying to blend into the shadows. Don't move.

I stayed by the opening with Dante using our fire to keep the family hunters back while our pack escaped. The shadow hunter was on his feet again rage twisting his face. The plant hunter looked murderous. And the fire user just smiled like this was all going according to plan. He said "you think you've won? This was never about killing you. This was about making you run". Dante demanded "run where?". The fire hunter pointed through the hole we'd made. "Right into the trap". I looked out. My blood went cold. The street below was swarming with hunters. Dozens of them fifty all with those wrong red eyes.. Standing in the middle of them directing the assault was someone I recognized.

"Another one..." Kael didn't take his eyes off the creature. Fire flared up his arms, licking his skin, casting them both in an infernal glow. "A Hunter," he said. "An old world relic. They are going to keep coming until we die. Or I kill the one controlling them..." The Hunter stepped fully into the ruin, each movement boneles, silent. Shadows silthered from its body, reaching for them like tendrils. The air dropped in temperature, and Aria's breath frosted before her lips.

Everyone was dead, but me. Turning back, I finally put a face to the voice. Her skin was covered in freckles and her hair was a wild brown, like she had stuck her finger in a socket. She was carrying a gun in her hands, but what stood out to me was her outfit. I’d seen it once before, in school. It was the Hunter’s uniform. The patch on her arm confirming it. Hunter’s were mercenaries for hire. Killers for hire, really. The non-magical in the supernatural world. They once were on a death march against all supernaturals, but now they were just raised on how to kill them and were sold to the highest bidder.

“Well, good thing I prepared earlier then. Rise up.” A shiver went up the Hunters’ spines. The sand around them seemed like it was the surface of boiling water. Bubbles puffed out of the sand and exploded into clouds of dust. The clouds in the sky shifted away and the moonlight shone a bit brighter than before, giving a clearer picture. Scorpions of various types emerged from the sand. Soldiers and workers were the common ones, but there were also the much larger guards and last but not least, the Sand King itself.
