My Sister's Duty Novels & Stories

“Do not embarrass yourself by saying that you did something to put an end to that nightmare of yours back there, because if you did, all this nonsense you are ranting about should not be happening. You…” “My dear, please calm down! This is not entirely her fault. She…” “Whose fault is it then, huh? My son’s? Stop defending this woman. She needs to take all the blame and responsibility for her failures!” She yells again. “With all due respect, ma'am, my sister did more than you can ever imagine. She sacrificed a lot for the people with whom she did not even have a relationship. She put her life on hold and risked her own life to save us all.” My sister defends me.

And that never amounts to anything good. He's handsome, but if I weren't his sisters, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. His involvement in a dangerous world, is also dangerous for anyone who approaches him. Even I who became his sister already had his punishment, embedded in my skin like a fresh wound. He catches my uneasy glance and rolls his eyes at me.

It was simple, something my sister had designed to her tastes during her time as alpha. "I haven't gotten the chance to change anything yet," I admitted. "I noticed, it doesn't have your touch to it," she edged deeper into the room and wrung her fingers, "so, what's the job of a Luna? I should have asked this sooner but it only hit me that I probably have duties to uphold when your beta greeted me the way he did."

“You have a sister. Wouldn’t you feel responsible for tracking her down if she went missing?” “I would.” He almost tacked on a But I’m a guy, and caught himself just in time. There was no telling what she would have done to him if he’d made such a sexist comment. “But you’ve gone above and beyond the duty of a sister. There’s a story there. That’s all I’m saying.”

Mirra was at the end of the table, which was where she had been at every council session apparently, for thirty years, the archive's representative on the governance body, present and attentive and intermittently devastating. "Correct," Mirra said. One word. In the tone she used when something was accurate and she was confirming it without embellishment. The council moved to implementation. Afterward, walking back through the estate corridor, one of the senior council members, a woman named Greta's sister, fell into step beside me. Not Greta. Her sister Petra, the other Petra, the one who had been helping me with defensive training and had watched the silver light send Davan stumbling and ha

“Obviously.” “What duties?” “Babysitting.” I raised an eyebrow. “That’s not a duty. That’s a threat.” She laughed. “I’ll learn how to change diapers.” “You’re very brave.” “I’ll wake up at three in the morning.” “You say that now.” “I mean it.” I smiled. “I know you do.” She squeezed my hand. “I can’t wait.” Neither could I. For a moment, we simply stood there holding hands. I looked at my sister. The woman who had once felt so far away from me.

Grace said weakly as her sickly voice trembles with anger. With no shame Tomas replied, “She’s the older sister, and this is her duty, as the older sister, to help her younger sister. Now that something had happened, she not only did not earnestly help her younger sister, but she also hid far away and caused her sister to be in trouble! What kind of older sister is she? With such evil intentions, how can I treat her well?"

Her eyes seemed to hold many secrets and wisdom as they stood on her slim face playing a huge role in her goth beauty style. Ashnard addressed her warmly,"Sister, why play the game of hide and seek when we aren't kids anymore? If you wish to see this brother of yours, come on in without fear, for even if I am in the middle of a war I wouldn't hesitate to take care of my little sister first." She frowned a bit, not appreciating his sentiment,"Your people should be first in your mind Ashnard. Do not be impulsive and do something stupid in the name of kinship while in a battle."

I wasn’t going to stop until she was fine, even if it meant that. “Think of the people,” Annemarie continues. “If the vessel dies, so will they.” “The vessel won’t die.” I snap, looking at the woman whose complexion is growing paler. “She was made for this.” “Please,” Annemarie pushes, gently moving her arm out of the way so that the woman collapses. “Saving the land is more important.” Her words send me crashing into a war between heart and duty, but in the end, I know that my sister is right. As the leader of these people, my concern was saving them, although as Annemarie’s older brother, my duty was to save her as well.

She starts to nag. I sighed. "Mom that's what teens do. I always go out cos it's fun." "And I'm going out with Danny tonight. So you have to look after your sister for me. Plus her friend is sleeping over." Danny her suitor. I scratched the back of my head. "You're going to pay me for this." "That's why I'm not hiring a nanny cos you're here. I'm not paying you to guard your own sister. I love you honey." she leans over and kissed my forehead.
