But just as I expected, he was already up before me—again. I let out a sigh and forced myself to get out of bed, even though I wanted nothing more than to stay under the covers. The exhaustion and sleepiness still weighed heavily on my body, but because of the persistent knocking and the growing hunger in my stomach, I had no choice but to get up. I slipped off the bed, my hand instinctively resting over my belly. When I opened the door, I was greeted by Antonia holding a tray of food. “Good morning, señorita. Please have your breakfast,” she greeted with a soft smile.

“See how you're handling your little… downfall.” I let out a quiet breath. “I’m doing just fine.” Antonia raised a brow. “Are you? Because from where I’m standing, you look like a woman trying very hard not to break.” I met her gaze head-on. “You must have a sad life if you went out of your way to find me just to gloat.” Antonia laughed. "Sweetheart, I didn’t have to go out of my way. The world is small, and I always end up exactly where I need to be."

Her voice is hard as she responds, “That girl has no manners, Malachi, and now she’s lost all her respect too! Through out goodwill she’s able to stay in this house, have nice clothes, i even offered her the furniture we have in the cellar! She refused and now this? That set of furniture in her room is a slap to my face and i will not let it stand!” “She’s not like the million other girls on the street.” My tone is calm, almost silent, but i’m sure my mother hears me. Though anger is currently coursing through me, it’s not enough to cloud the fact that m

It was a quiet and long drive back to the Montero's Mansion, Angela won’t stop stealing glances at Anthonio. She was in the back seat ,all that was in her mind was Jace's words about Anthonio. “He said he has no heart,so that's why he can't feel any true emotions,is it possible..I was a bit scared when he whispered that to me,do you know why he is like that? You are his fiancee right?”

“Dante…” “I want you to look at our mother, and see how much she struggled for all of us” I said, stopping my sister “I want you to look her in the eye, and notice the exhaustion she has in them to work three jobs alongside Aunt Gabriella, to support you, me, and Leonardo. I want you to look at these two women who had three children in their arms as two men, if I call them that, chose to leave us all without a dime to support us. These two women, our mother, and our aunt, were forced to sell whatever it was they had with them, whether it was diamonds, gold, or clothes to buy you diapers, or to pay for a place for us to sleep in without being left to rot on the streets”

“Anton is his name...” My chest suddenly tightened, and I went deaf at her words. I couldn't hear the details she said anymore because of my heart beating so loudly. "I don't know any Anton," I lied. "I think he's looking for you. He saw us at the restaurant the other day. You know, when you were crying because of your dad?" My brow furrowed even more. "Oh, so?" "I don't know, he just said he saw us somewhere. He recognized us because we were wearing our uniforms, so he knew we worked here."
