Eureka… Something whispered to my mind, like the voice of a woman but tainted with ghostly paleness. Anyway, I had my doubt about her identity. Her long hair was neatly bundled at the back of her head and her makeup was perfect, as always. “Dante,” she acknowledged. “Dahlia.” I responded.

Somewhere behind the counter, the radio was playing carols too quietly to make out the words, just enough to fill the silence Victoria had left behind her. "Is she gone?" Chloe stage-whispered, peering out the fogged glass like Victoria might still be lurking in the snowbank. "She's gone." "Did we survive?" "Barely," Maya said, sinking onto the stool behind the register, legs finally giving out from under her. She pressed both palms against her eyes. "I need a minute. Possibly a year." "Take it." I crossed the shop toward her, snow still melting off my shoulders onto the wood floor, close enough now to see her hands were shaking, fine and fast. "For what it's worth, that wasn't about you."

When the last lock broke free, the weight of the magic inside spilled into the air like dust from a tomb. Before they even called themselves that.” Mikan frowned. “Before the civil split.” “Before everything,” Morgan whispered. He turned several pages until he reached a section inked in charred red. A symbol was drawn there of three interlocked triangles forming a circle. The same mark that appeared behind Avi’s Circle signature in the magical projection.

Derrick It’s a mystery how I am still alive after Dahlia sucked all of my life essence out of me last night. If I didn’t believe in heaven, last night’s experience surely made me rethink that notion. I narrowed my eyes, trying to make out more details, but it was too dark to see clearly. Out of habit, I pulled my phone from my pocket, scrolling aimlessly as I walked, all the while getting closer to the figure. There was an urgency in me, a need to know who it was. And then, as I moved closer, the faint light from the poles lining the beach illuminated her. Long dark hair. Petite frame. My heart stuttered in my chest. I knew that silhouette, had lived with it for a year. It was Dahlia. What the hell was she doing here in Bali?
