Joyce walked towards him and stood beside him, her lashes trembling, as if she were barely holding herself together, and whispered loud enough for everyone to hear,

“Miss Brown?” The woman called out to Dahlia, “Who will be your witness?”
Dahlia blinked, tears rolling down her face because she knew she had no one. Only her grandmother ever saw that picture, and Lena knew nothing about describing art, nor would she be able to. She was at the edge of a cliff, and Silas mercilessly pushed her over.
Dahlia let out a broken sound that might have been a laugh or might have been a sob, even she wasn’t sure.
