The library was always my sanctuary, a place where I could escape reality and lose myself in the pages of a good book. As I wandered through the aisles, I came across a book that caught my eye. It was titled "The Mystics of Lycans". Intrigued, I pulled it off the shelf and flipped through the pages. The words were unfamiliar, and I struggled to make sense of them. They seemed to be in a language I had never seen before. "Zephyrion milarath velindreth, thalorion symphoria. Ancalima thranduil caladron."

She ran her fingers along the spines, the gold lettering cool against her skin. Drawn in by the sheer volume, she hesitantly pulled a book from the shelf, a slim volume bound in dark blue leather. The title was etched in silver: The Royal Grimoire of Sacred Oaths. She opened it, her eyes skimming the ornate calligraphy, the intricate diagrams filled with arcane symbols.

The silence was punctuated only by our quiet murmurs, our shared yearning for a past we never knew, a future we desperately wished for. Later, amidst the twisted metal and rubble, James stumbled upon a tattered book, its cover mostly torn away, revealing only a few words—'The Chronicles of Atheria'. The title alone conjured images of a world far removed from our own, a place of magic and wonder, of brave knights and epic quests. The pages, brittle with age and decay, contained fragmented stories, glimpses of a civilization that had flourished before the catastrophe. It spoke of vibrant cities, of advanced technology, and of a society that lived in harmony with its environment.

Small sparks of magic dance in the air, swirling around me, creating an atmosphere of expectation and latent power. I walk to my private library, where rows of ancient, forbidden books rest on weathered wooden shelves. Each of these books is a source of power. But there is one book in particular I seek, one that carries within it the weight of generations of enchantresses, the most potent and forbidden of all: the Bloodbound Codex.

“Smart. Hide it in habit. That’s how they trained young minds.” “Any major standouts?” I asked. Andy nodded, a little too fast. “The history section.” I raised an eyebrow. “Yeah?” “It’s not just world history. I found timelines on werewolf wars, vampire treaties, coven migrations, hybrid purges… and something that looks like pantheon lore. Like, actual accounts of god and goddess activity.” My lips parted. “Say that again?” He pulled a thin volume off the top of a growing pile and handed it to me. The title was in an old dialect—one I could read only because of the Goddess blood thrumming in my veins. Divine Imprints: The Last Age Before Silence.

Or so I think! There's no one in the library so I have to scour the place to find a book about our kind. I search the 'history' section and I find none. However, finding myself in the 'myths' section, I find a book that seems to be the right one which I'm convinced it's speaking about one of the warriors. I open it up and unknowingly to me, I'm not ready for its contents. It talks about the the moon goddess and her mighty warriors. It also talks about the legend and how they're to descend on earth and surprisingly, I land in the first warrior's name: Hera.

But would they help me protect Orion and seek revenge? I roamed around the library, picking out books from several different sections. A hefty stack was piled in one arm by the time I’d finished—for now—and I narrowed my selection down to three. No pleasure reading this time, I was on a mission. One was a text on abnormal supernatural biology. Another covered the mythology of chimeras, strange creatures featuring numerous animal and human parts. The last was a history of dark witches. After stashing the remaining books on a side table, I climbed back up to the third floor and eased into the hall. The corridor was empty and quiet except for… Was that music?

The transition from "Ascended Monarchs" to "starving shifters" happened remarkably fast. For hours, we were buried in vellum and leather. We moved through stacks of ancient scrolls, but it seemed the Great Library of the Queens had a sense of humor—or a very mundane side. We found "The Little Dragon Who Lost His Spark," a three-volume set on the proper way to tax wool in the fourteenth century, and a surprisingly aggressive book on the ethics of herbalism.

Deciding to take some books to read, I head in. The place was enormous. Rows of books cover the walls and isles. I felt like a kid looking over everything. My fingers touch each cover. Some full of dust, others really old. Intrigued, I stop on an isle that says legend and myths section. Looking at what book to choose. I approach one with a yellow cover. It looked old and dusty. Pulling it out, I read the title, “Goddess.” Curious to know, I take the book and go back. It was thick enough to have me at leas four days distracted on it.

I am afraid but I must fuel my curiosity. My fingers trail over books as I use my eyes to search. “History of the Great Wars. Wolf-Clan Genealogies.” Useless!! In a corner, I find a smaller shelf with older, cracked bindings. One title stands out: Creatures of Myth and Scarcity. I pull it free, coughing at the plume of dust, and sink to the floor in a pool of blue velvet. I open it. Swan Mythology. It is exactly what I am looking for.
