I was once again caged between two alphas. “He’s sick… suffering,” I mumbled through my cloudy mind, tears soaking my cheeks. “How can I abandon him now?” The quiet of the room pressed on me as the healers worked in silence. I knew I could still escape. This was the perfect chance, with everyone too distracted to guard me. But my heart faltered and my eyes drifted back to Kyden’s pale face, chaining me like iron shackles. After all he was my only friend who had always taken care of me in my bad days.

"But he will look for you, Mare. The Alpha will hunt you down. What about your pack?" I swallow as my face hardens. "It's been days. I understand I'm not wanted anymore. They abandoned me first." I wear a sad smile on my face and he sees I'm trying so hard not to crumble. Jai-Blynn pulls me to my feet and I find comfort in his arms. The smile returned to his sweet face, bright and genuine, showing all his teeth. “I want to stay friends no matter what. And… if you ever find your mate, tell me. If you ever need me… tell me. “You’re lying. Nate would never betray me. You’re just trying to mess with my head.” Ragnarok tilted his head slightly.
