I said with a grin. We couldn’t talk much after that because the teacher started class. We were continuing to read The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It’s a depressing book about a colonial woman who has a child out of wedlock, and is shunned. I don’t know why English teachers insist on having students read such depressing literature. Still, I heard one of the other classes was doing The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Somehow, Scarlet Letter seems less depressing than a bunch of girls faking possession. Maybe.

“Can I ask…Do you know why my mother tried to marry me off to Nathanial Hawthorne?” Jolene glanced at Dexter, who nodded at her. “Nathanial Hawthorne is a rogue Omega. When he found out what you were, he paid Laurel a large sum of money for you. Laurel wanted to leave your father…and the twins. She didn’t love him anymore. She had…she met someone else. Hawthorne's money would have helped her to...start over.”

chapter TWO What the…? I stood at the end of the drive that led up to 24 Porterfield Lane and gaped. With another glance at the Post-it note in my sweaty hand containing Mr. Nash’s heavy scrawl, I took in the numbers and letters before turning my attention back to the brick-covered mailbox that said 24 Porterfield Lane. Right address. Shaking my head, I faced the gate. A metal sign hung from it, telling me I’d arrived at Porter Hall Estate, Residence of Entrepreneur Henry Nash.

As the rains descended high from the skies over the roof tops of the bar, Ottoman sat still monitoring his coffee as it grew cold by the minute. His thoughts weren’t with the coffee as he barely took a sip from it; something the bartender noticed, along with the other patrons. As he sat still; eyes monitored him from spread out corners, making it obvious he was the sore thumb amongst them. Compared to the rest, he stuck out like an odd number; his beards, his sharp eyes and numb lips, his brown skin all gave him away. In as much as he tried to fit in; shaving off a short portion of his beard and putting on American suited clothes, he couldn’t fool anyone to being one of them.

"I promised I'd move you closer to home if you kept to your end of the deal. Your brother almost died, Noah—" "And do you know who else can still die? That pretty wife of yours. I heard redheads are more fun than blondes. I've never had a redhead myself. I like them coloured, you see. But I hear your wife is quite a looker. Tell me, Hawthorne, does the carpet match the drapes? "You son of a bitch!" Austin lost his shit, and for twenty seconds straight, he hurled every insult he could think of at Noah, but the crazy bastard seemed unbothered by his meltdown.

Nina’s pov- I took a bite out of the red apple that I held in my hand as I rummaged through the fridge. I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I hoped to find something that would ease the hunger that the three apples I had previously ate couldn’t do. the hunger was intense, I don’t think I have ever been this hungry in my entire life, I didn’t think it was possible to feel such hunger when you have in fact put something into your stomach. I huffed slamming the fridge shut with my frustration. I’ve ate a cheese sandwich and three God damn apples and still I felt so uncomfatably hungry like nothing would please my appetite.

Hunter pov We took in Nash and the poor kid liked to hide in closets and the first night I about had a heart attack not being able to find him. He was curled up in the bottom of the closet crying. It took me awhile to coax him out. Hannah sobbed hard watching and begged him to go to her. He laid with her and looked at her baby bump. "Nash you ready?",he had therapy again today. I get a nod and he pulls on his shoes. "Ready",he says softly. I feel for him he lost his parents to greed.

Her godbrother appeared even more than the smoked bacon did! Nathan felt a sour feeling in his chest after he shut the book. He looked up to see Hilda humming a tune as she fixed the 3D bedroom projector that had previously been sent back after Linux sent it over. Ever since the incident that occurred with Linux, Nathan had sent all his gifts except Garfield back to him.

Now Noah and the three of them are sitting in front of the judge's table. After all, Noah's actions violated the law. "So, Noah killed Mrs. Zoe?" asked the judge with a probing look. "That's right, Sir. He killed the best teacher in our school," The principal replied then looked at Noah scornfully. "Tch, the best mistress you mean?" Noah asked disdainfully. "Watch your manners, Noah!" Mr. Zackary was angry at Noah's words.

I wasn’t sure I could force the words out of my mouth, relive all of it in the telling. “I don’t know where Hawthorne was while he was supposed to be dead,” I said, because that at least was both true and not all that important to me. The asshole had faked his own death two years before, disappeared, and only returned shortly before I came on the scene. And I hadn’t known him before then. “He mentioned Seattle. I think he was in Washington part of the time. But that’s all I know.” “Not all that helpful,” Matthew said. “And also not the most pressing issue. How did you end up working for Kimball?”
