It had taken a lot to get her to surrender the kitchen to me, so that when she’d insisted on assisting, I’d agreed, knowing it would lead to another long argument if I refused.
But having her around wasn’t bad at all. It gave me someone to talk to.
“Rosa, how long have you worked here?” I asked casually now, wanting to know more about her.
