He stands at the foot of the bed, looking down at me with an unreadable expression. “Is this you being jealous?”

The fabric was the kind of soft that came from a well used blanket. He obeyed his orders. He pulled the blankets back and a rush of lavender hit him. He inhaled the pleasing scent and let his eyes close. He lay down and the pillows had a faded scent of lavender in them as well. The bed was almost too soft, the pillow too plush. Wren didn’t think he’d be able to sleep, not when he was laying on something so different that anything he’d been on before, but it didn’t take more than a couple deep breaths of the calming, soothing scent and Wren drifted off to sleep.

The raging frustration pulled her shoulder down, knowing it was Zandro who was in the car. Did he leave just like that after their wedding? A cold smirk found its way to her lips. Instead of making more reasons to start a drama that will surely make her chest heavy eventually, she chose to dive into her soft and expensive bed to let it carry all of the negativity for now, also the emptiness growing in her stomach. Shutting her eyes and forcing herself to sleep, Blythe slowly felt her nerves calming down as her brain produced too many melatonin hormones which eventually put her into a deep sleep eventually...

It was earthy sandalwood mixed with a hint of lavender and citrus. Something calming but not too soft. She knew his preferences better than he knew them himself. Without ever signing her name, she had packaged the fragrance into sleek black diffusers and mailed them to his home every two weeks. Each bottle came with a clean, typed label and a small, folded note that read: “For restful sleep.”

His happiness was a tangible force, enveloping us in a bubble of shared joy and anticipation for what was to come. "Rest now," Alex whispered, his voice a blend of excitement and calm assurance.
