I wiped sweat from my forehead, already feeling the enormous mental pressure building behind my eyes. Managing Tier 2 required far more concentration than before. “Nebula,” I said quickly, “help stabilize the livestock perimeter.” The black cat immediately lifted his chin arrogantly. “For three fresh salmon later.” “Done.” “And one heated velvet cushion.” “You’re a spiritual entity. Why do you even need a cushion?” “Because I have standards.” “…Fine!” “Excellent.” Nebula leaped gracefully from the tree. “Now hurry before your precious kingdom turns into compost.”

he warned, wagging a warning finger. “She does not make me uncomfortable,” Nico countered. Rea got up from the couch and scrunched her face. “Nothing can ever get a reaction from him. He's that much of a robot. I bet he wouldn't even notice me if I walked around here naked, with my legs spread wide apart.” Nero cocked his head with a thoughtful look. “That's true, though.” Nico glared at his boss but said nothing in reply. Rea walked to the wine cabinet and picked out a bottle of whisky, and poured herself some.

“Anyway… what’s your name, human?” “Keira,” I said quietly, brushing my thumb over its feathery ear. “What’s yours?” It cracked one eye open. “Hm. Good question. I’ve never needed a name before. But since you insist… call me Nylo.” “Nylo…” I repeated softly. “That’s… cute.” Its eyes snapped open, glaring at me. “I am not cute. I am ferocious and terrifying.” “Of course you are,” I giggled, hugging it closer.

he asks softly. I nod. “Well, I need a hug,” Cyrene says, pulling me into a hug. “And I better see a tiger in that new apartment of yours when I come see you tomorrow.” “You mean this tiger?” Iniko asks, opening my bag and pulling out my stuffed tiger. Cyrene squeals in delight and hugs me again, making me laugh. I look at my mother over her shoulder. ‘Thank you,’ I mouth so she knows I appreciate her reminding me to pack the tiger.

He laughed. “Yes, and what about it? What do you want from us?” Mia asked. “Mia Henslor, your father runs a business of high tech huh? They met Neo’s, and it felt like he was being sucked into them just like I did with Beauty’s eyes.

his voice jerked me back to reality. "hmm can I get your order"I said trying to sound confident, his voice sent me to planet zecury,I don't even know if it exists. "Two pot pies and one smoothie" he said back, with his eyes fixed on me. For the first time I saw genuine admiration and not the usual look of lust I was used to.
