Anahita Waterwolf POV We waterwolves have resettled on the banks of the Dream River that runs through the place once known as the Barren. Though to use the word 'barren' in relation to this magnificent place feels ridiculous. Many mornings I sit on the balcony of the packhouse, before the pack stirs, gazing out at the churning, roiling, foaming waves of the river, its banks densely packed with rich, dark mud. The colours of the river at dawn--blue, mauve, purple, indigo, green--remind me of the lifestone and that night when the poison was driven out. The lifestone disappeared, it's work done. ODETTE After a close to eighteen-hour flight with two stops in between—one of which Gunnar had made, we landed in South Africa, in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. We were hauled up in a hotel room near the beach. The city we were staying in—from the little I had seen—was beautiful. Durban seemed to be filled with people of different races and ethnicity. It was different from what I had expected. Then again, I didn't know what to expect when Ace said we were going to a safe house. All I knew was that we wouldn't be staying at this hotel for very long.

A cool breeze is blowing and if feels so pleasant. "So, where do you live?" I ask her. "I live in Clovis, what about you?", she asks in return. "Oh, I live in Madera" I tell her. "Really, I have a cousin who lives there" she says smiling. "I have a friend who lives in Clovis" I tell her returning her smile. "Oh, really but I don't know much people there because I just moved there from San Jose this year" she says. "Oh, so you live alone in Clovis?" I ask her.

He found the hum of the engines oddly soothing as he tried to calm his racing thoughts. Nevada. Quiet desert city, rich with potential. That’s what this trip was about. Another strategic investment opportunity for the pack—an infrastructure deal that would place them closer to the southwestern territories and widen their influence. He stepped off the plane, scenting the dry air, faint exhaust fumes, and… cardboard. Sure enough, a tall man in a suit held up a sign: Mr CONNOR Thompson. Connor eyed the man for a beat before tossing his bag toward him without a word. He caught it with a small grunt, clearly not expecting the weight.

Splitting things up by state makes the most sense. Liam, Bhakti, and Sandra take West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. Zak and Brandon take Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Gerald asks now sitting on the couch, meanwhile Ana helps herself with the centre table, she didn't care less, it was glassy. "You just left your girl behind. It's unfair." Ana says in a playful manner, making Gerald chuckle. "I would never!" Gerald says stretching his hand and pulling her closer, dropping her on his laps, he drops a peck on her lips. "How is Lagos then?" Ana asks, with a small smile. "Fine! So, you are friends with the Wachukwu's?" Gerald asks looking quite inquisitive. "Not really. Let's say friend's with there friend." Ana says getting up from his laps and sitting on her own.
